John Barrowman joins celebrity shout-out platform Cameo and charges £150 for personalised messages

John Barrowman has a profile on the celebrity video messaging site, Cameo, where he charges £150 for personalised messages, despite admitting earlier this month that he exposed himself on the set of Doctor Who.

The Dancing On Ice judge, 54, is reportedly making thousands of pounds on the shout-out platform and has received over 605 complimentary reviews from happy customers.

It is estimated only a quarter of site users leave a review on the site after purchasing a video, therefore it is predicted John has earned in excess of £300,000.

One satisfied user penned on his profile: ‘Five stars are not enough. What could be better than this? I was so happy that I started to run. I don’t know how to express how touched I am. Thank you John.’

A second fan shared their appreciation: ‘Absolutely wonderful! John could have just said Happy Birthday but he went above and beyond with this wonderful message.’

Another posed on Tuesday: ‘I thought it was absolutely awesome how personalized, unique, and in-depth it was!

‘Definitely worth the money and my mom was so surprised and excited when she saw the video. Thank you so much to John Barrowman for making this happen. – Ethan’.

The shout-out website has seen a 77 percent increase in stars who have been earning thousands by filming personal messages for their fans during lockdown.

Inbetweeners star James Buckley, 32, reportedly earned over £100,000 in three months using the site, while reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner, 70, is thought to have earned £14,500 from just seven personalised clips.

Real Housewives’ former cast member, Bethenny Frankel charges £248.17 for her personalised messages and has a long list of positive reviews.

Meanwhile, actor Charlie Sheen is a regular on the site and charges £332 for his cameos. Made In Chelsea star Francis Boulle charges a whopping £850 per clip.

John remains one of the highest-rated celebrities on the platform. He has also amassed over 20 five-star rated testimonials since his TV set exposure scandal hit the headlines.

Earlier in May, Barrowman apologised for exposing himself repeatedly while filming Doctor Who and Torchwood, but insisted it was just ‘tomfoolery’, as the show’s architect Russell T Davies denied knowing anything about inappropriate behaviour on set.

He told the Guardian his ‘high-spirited behaviour’ was ‘only ever intended in good humour’ to entertain colleagues on set and backstage – and not sexual harassment.

‘With the benefit of hindsight, I understand that upset may have been caused by my exuberant behaviour and I have apologised for this previously,’ he said. ‘Since my apology in November 2008, my understanding and behaviour have also changed.’

Barrowman’s former co-star Noel Clarke, 45, had been dropped by multiple networks and BAFTA after he was accused of being a ‘sexual predator’ by 20 women.

Clarke was filmed making jokes about Barrowman, who played Captain Jack Harkness on both programmes, showing people his penis ‘every five seconds’ and ‘hitting it on everything’.

Last month, a video of Clarke emerged showing him on stage during a Doctor Who Q&A with fans where he joked about Barrowman’s alleged proclivity for getting his penis out on set.

Barrowman had apologised publicly after a similar incident on BBC Switch.

Clarke’s two female co-stars Annette Badland and Camille Coduri are seen as he uses microphone as a prop phallus, hitting them on their legs and even resting it on Camille’s shoulders, with viewers saying they were ‘squirming while watching’.

He said: ‘For the record, any men out there, do not try that at work. You will be fired and possibly go to jail.’

In April, Noel – who is accused of inappropriate behaviour towards 20 women over 14 years – apologised ‘deeply’ for his actions and said he will be seeking professional help, but has ‘vehemently’ denied sexual misconduct or criminal behaviour.
