Speaking on a live chat with fans after the video premiered on Youtube on Thursday, Jon spoke about the inspiration behind the song and said: ‘This is surely one of the most personal.

‘I set out that day to write a song about my daughter, but I realised I had already written her, “I Got The Girl” in 2002.

‘So I expanded on the thought and wrote it about my family. It is very personal and I hope you take the words to heart and think about about you and your family as I think about mine.’

When quizzed about the previously private family photos and home videos included in the new release, the award-winning rocker credited his younger sibling for sourcing them.

He continued: ‘I have to give thanks to my brother Matt who went to my parents house and dug up most of what you will see in the video.

‘This was the only idea I ever had for the video. No matter who I was talking to I always knew I wanted this family footage to accompany the music.’

Reflecting on his experience as a father, Jon said he enjoyed ‘different phases for different reasons.’

He added: ‘The beginning was very special because there is nothing like your first time…’

The father-of-four said he hopes that Story Of Love will be relatable to other families and parents.

‘Although I wrote “Story of Love” about my family,’ he said. ‘I hope when people listen to the song and watch the video, they will see themselves and their family,’
