Kameron Westcott opens up about how filming RHOD during COVID was ‘extremely different’

In 2020 the Real Housewives were forced to pivot how they film due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Kameron Westcott says that shooting during lockdown was a very unique experience.

Westcott spoke exclusively with DailyMailTV senior correspondent Alicia Quarles about adjusting to a new way of shooting calling it ‘extremely different’.

Plus, the 38-year-old dished about her fun new podcast with Kary Brittingham, her thriving pet brand, Sparkle Dog and her relationship with former Housewife LeeAnne Locken.

New normal: Real Housewives of Dallas star Kameron Westcott spoke exclusively with DailyMailTV senior correspondent Alicia Quarles about adjusting to filming during COVID, calling it ‘extremely different’

‘It was extremely different,’ she reflected. ‘We had a lot more footage inside our homes so it was different for our families because they’re not used to having cameras over here 24/7.’

Kameron explained that the entire dynamic shifted because instead of being able to film at events or restaurants and during cast trips, it was primarily just her personal life at home.

Season five, which premiered earlier in January, marks Westcott’s fourth with the Real Housewives of Dallas after joining the popular series in season two.

New castmate Tiffany Hendra found out the hard way what type of drama being a Housewife can drum up after being shaded for a lavish tour of her mansion.

'It was extremely different,' she reflected. 'We had a lot more footage inside our homes so it was different for our families because they're not used to having cameras over here 24/7.'

‘Sometimes it gets sticky because we are in the south and southern women, you know, try not to brag about their wealth,’ Kameron said of the flack Tiffany caught.

‘But for me, I love going into people’s closets because it really expresses people’s style and you get to know them when you enter someone’s closet,’ she added.

Season seven is also the first without former co-star LeeAnne Locken who quit the series last year.

'LeeAnne and I are a great place. I love that we've shared so many wonderful memories,' Kameron told Alica Quarles. She added that aside from her, LeeAnne seems to have pretty much washed her hands of the cast (Season 4 cast pictured with Andy Cohen)

‘She is really just doing her own thing. I don’t really think she misses a lot of the girls on the show. I don’t think she does,’ she continued. ‘She keeps in touch with me.’

Meanwhile, Kameron has not slowed down despite quarantine and recently launched a new podcast cheekily titled Kam & Kary Do Dallas with co-star Kary Brittingham.

'We are complete opposites, which is so excited and fun because we love to throw different opinions to each other,' she gushed about her new podcast. 'We still both love each other even though we have different opinions on a lot of things.'

It’s no secret to fans of RHOD that Kam and Kary tend to have opposing opinions but Westcott says it’s that dynamic that makes Kary the ‘perfect partner’.
