She replied saying: ‘I can assure you no one ‘needs’ a man. It’s really a question of want one, or not xx.’

Kate and Goody first sparked dating rumours in April when they were publicly seen together for the first time, and their split comes just three months after publicly declared their love for one another.

According to The Sun, Goody has allegedly returned to his native Canada after splitting from Kate, but he is still following her on social media.

Kate’s own birthday comment for Goody which she posted back in June also still features on his account.

MailOnline has contacted representatives for Kate Beckinsale and Goody Grace for comment.

Kate was first romantically linked with Grace back in April, when they were spotted holding hands while out for a walk.

A source told HollywoodLife in July: ‘They actually have a lot in common. Kate is a free spirit and she appreciates that Goody is talented.

‘He’s really mature, and they can have deep conversations but also can be really playful and goofy at the same time.

Her boyfriend Goody is just two years older than her daughter, 21-year-old Lily, who she shares with her former partner of eight years, Michael Sheen.

Kate was married to director Len Wiseman for 12 years, only to file for divorce in 2016.

The Widow actress recently hit back at ‘ridiculous’ critics of her age-gap romances and lifestyle.

In an interview with Women’s Health magazine, she said men ‘constantly do whatever they like’, whereas women over the age of 32 seem to be committing a ‘political act’ whenever they do anything ‘risqué’ or ‘fun’.

The mother-of-one explained: ‘It can feel like a little bit of a political act to be a woman over 32 who’s having any fun at all. ‘Oh my god, I’m going to sit home and anticipate menopause while crocheting’.

‘Unless you’re doing that, it somehow seems to be risqué, which is just ridiculous to me. I witness men constantly doing whatever they like, whether in relationships, or deciding to buy a motorbike, or getting a tattoo.

‘It hasn’t been interpreted as, ‘why hasn’t he had more children?’ or ‘is he ever going to decide to become a parent?’ or ‘why has he had so many girlfriends?’.’
