Katie Piper admires floral tributes for Prince Phillip outside Buckingham Palace

Katie Piper certainly stood out from the crowd on Saturday as she admired the floral tributes left for Prince Phillip outside Buckingham Palace.

The TV personality, 37, caught the eye in a bright pink padded jacket as she and daughter Belle, seven, joined the small crowd outside the Royal residence following the death of the Duke on Friday, aged 99.

Katie appeared relaxed as she sipped on a takeaway coffee as she and her child walked past the gathering of well-wishers.

The presenter kept warm with a black hoodie pulled over her head, teaming her casual look with black leggings and gloves.

Katie didn’t appear to have flowers with her, so she may have been passing the scene and stopped to look.

Katie’s outing comes weeks after she was ‘resting and recovering’ in hospital following a successful operation for a skin graft over her right eye.

The presenter author had shared an Instagram post on Tuesday revealing she was set to undergo more surgery, after a horrific 2008 acid attack left her blind in one eye.

A representative for Katie told MailOnline the activist was on the road to recovery following her latest procedure, which came as part of a long-term plan to improve the condition of her so-called ‘good eye’.

In a statement Katie’s representative said: ‘Katie is resting and recovering from her latest operation – it is part of a long-term treatment plan on her eyes following the injuries she sustained over a decade ago.

‘Yesterday’s successful procedure was a skin graft on her upper right eye lid – this is her ‘good’ eye, her left is fully blind. Katie thanks everyone for their kindness and the thousands of warm wishes she’s received over the past 24-hours.’

Following the news about her operation, Katie also posed for a trio of stunning black and white snaps showcasing the scarring caused by the 2008 acid attack, after undergoing multiple operations.

Katie, who has been continuing to work with her charity The Katie Piper Foundation despite the Covid pandemic, revealed a day earlier she was in hospital for another surgery on her eyelid.

Ahead of the op, she was staying positive as she shared an update with followers while sitting in a hospital bed last month.

She explained how she was having a planned skin graft operation on her right eye after the acid attack left her blind in that eye.

Speaking on her Instagram Story she said: ‘Morning lovely people, I have a very optimistic affirmation for you today. 30th March, what happened in the past is done with. It is the actions that you take next that will shape the rest of your life.

‘I think that’s a really exciting affirmation, knowing that there’s so much more in front of you than there is behind you. I think sometimes the past is best left where it belongs.’

She then added: ‘Thank-you for all the messages, I am fine. I’m having a planned operation to my eyelid. I’m having another skin graft to my right eye.’

The previous day she also shared an empowering message on her grid as she prepared for a workout which read: ‘Having a strong and positive start to the week before I head in for another op tomorrow!’

Under the post Katie was also inundated with messages from followers who wished her well ahead of her latest surgery.

Katie survived a sulphuric acid attack orchestrated by her ex-boyfriend in 2008, which caused significant damage to her face and left her blind in one eye.

The horrifying attack was organised by her obsessive ex-partner, Daniel Lynch, but was carried out by accomplice Stefan Sylvestre in a pre-planned street attack outside her north London home.

Lynch was subsequently given two life terms behind bars, while Sylvestre served 6-years of his own life sentence. He was released in 2018.

Katie underwent more than 40 operations to treat her burns, including pioneering surgery that involved completely removing the damaged skin from her face and replacing it with a substitute.
