The presenter, 37, revealed that she began to notice her alcohol intake increasing during the pandemic as she ‘kept finding excuses’ to enjoy a glass of wine in the evening.

Katie added that she’s now decided to ‘keep her drinking sociable’ by waiting until she can enjoy alcohol safely with friends after the COVID-19 lockdown is over.

Katie was a guest on Wednesday’s Lorraine to chat about her appearance on Celebrity Supply Teacher offering advice to children on how to limit stress.

The mother-of-two said that like many parents juggling home-schooling, lockdown isn’t easy, but she’s found quitting alcohol is helping to lift her mood.

She said: ‘I kept finding excuses each day to have a glass of wine and I think when this third lockdown came as hard as it is we have to be more positive than ever.

‘I think hearing the death toll it’s an incredibly sad time too, I actually downloaded one of those apps to quit drinking as alcohol is a depressant and I want to stay as balanced as possible.

‘I’m 26 days sober my app says, and I do miss having a drink at the weekend but thing is with me is that I replace the alcohol with chocolate and crisps.

‘I’ve set a goal of when I’m looking forward to having a glass of wine when I can do it safely with friends and I want to keep it sociable.’

It comes after Katie recently revealed that spending time at home during lockdown has made her broody and keen to try for another baby.

However, the charity founder said her husband wasn’t as keen to expand the family because he had outgrown the newborn baby stage after having their two girls.

She told OK! magazine: ”I think he just wouldn’t really want to go back to the beginning stage.

‘You know over lockdown how people bought loads of puppies? I was like, “We could have another baby! I’m at home so I could breastfeed on Zoom and it’d be great!”

‘But then the world will go back to normal in spring and I’d be like, “Oh no, I’m eight months pregnant, that wasn’t a good idea.’

Katie added they haven’t ruled out having another child telling the publication: ‘None of us know what’s going to happen in life’ but if she was to fall pregnant she didn’t care about gender as long as the baby was healthy.
