Kelly Monaco is temporarily replaced on General Hospital after suffering ‘breathing problems’ … as Lindsay Hartley will play Sam McCall Morgan on ABC soap opera

Kelly Monaco is being temporarily replaced Lindsay Hartley on General Hospital amid a health problem.

Hartley, 42, stepped in after the Philadelphia-born Monaco, 44, was sidelined from the show, as first reported by Daytime Confidential.

Monaco was quarantined for two weeks after she had breathing problem in her return to work on the long-running ABC soap opera, her mother Carmina said on Twitter.

Hartley, a veteran of soaps such as All My Children and Days of Our Lives, took to Twitter acknowledging the move, and expressing her admiration for Monaco, who’s played Sam McCall Morgan on the ABC soap opera since 2003.

‘Some big shoes to fill…precious too,’ wrote the actress. I hope you enjoy watching Sam as much as I have enjoyed playing her, temporarily.’

Hartley, whose ex is This Is Us actor Justin Hartley, posted a selfie in which she donned a mask  as she worked on the set of the show, writing, ‘Masked… Covid set life’ in the caption.

Monaco’s mother Carmina Monaco said on Friday that Kelly ‘is safe and healthy’ after she dealt with a ‘breathing problem’ while working on the show.

She said: ‘Kelly is great and should be back on set Monday … first day back she had a hard time with the Covid mask and was given a rather unexpected 14 day quarantine even though she tested negative twice for Covid and a third negative test for Covid antibodies,’ Carmina wrote. ‘She is excited to get back on set next week.’

Carmina added that Kelly death with ‘a breathing problem with [her face] mask’ on her first day back on set.

Kelly, who was the first celeb to be crowned Dancing with the Stars champion, returned to the set after production on the show commenced last month after shutting down in March. The network had enough episodes to last through May, and had been airing reruns amid the lack of new content.

New episodes of the show begin airing Monday.
