Kristin Cavallari opens up about her divorce from Jay Cutler: ‘There’s good days and bad days’

Six months after first announcing her split from NFL quarterback Jay Cutler, Kristin Cavallari is opening up about the split.

The 33-year-old Laguna Beach star was promoting her new cookbook True Comfort, which was published last month, when she spoke about the split with US Weekly.

While she said she’s ‘feeling really good,’ she also admitted, ‘it’s been up and down’ since the split in her interview.

‘I have found the adjustment to be pretty smooth,’ Cavallari said, after splitting from Cutler, who she was married to from June 2013 until their split in April 2020.

‘I mean, there’s good days and bad days, but I’m feeling really good right now,’ she added.

‘I’m feeling really happy and really free and that’s a nice feeling,’ she added of her outlook after the split.

She shares three kids with Cutler, Camden, 8, and Jaxon, 6, and daughter Saylor, 4, who were with them in the Bahamas where they were quarantining amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Upon their return home to Nashville in April, the couple announced their split, with Cavallari revealing she’s enjoyed having more time to herself.

‘For the longest time I didn’t make time for myself and now obviously with coparenting I’ve had time for myself,’ she said.

‘And it’s been nice to be able to focus on me and figure out who I am now and what I ultimately want out of life,’ she added.

Since her split from the former NFL quarterback, Cavallari added she has learned, ‘how to let go of control and just sort of let life happen.’

‘For so long I was like, OK, in 2021 I want to be doing X, Y and Z and in 2022… and it’s, like, I’m not doing that anymore,’ she said.

‘I’m not planning out the rest of my life anymore. I’m learning to just be present and enjoy the journey because that’s ultimately what life is about and even be OK with the good and the bad,’ she added.

‘I just want to feel it all. I want to experience everything right now,’ she added.

Her cookbook True Comfort: More Than 100 Cozy Recipes Free of Gluten and Refined Sugar: A Gluten Free Cookbook was published in late September.
