Instagram sensation Kurt Coleman reveals he felt ‘ashamed’ by his own management who told him to ‘lose some weight’ after a photo shoot

Kurt Coleman rose to fame on social media as a self-tanning addict

But on Wednesday, the Instagram star shared a heartfelt message about self-love to his followers as he revealed that he was ‘fat-shamed’ by his management.

He shared photos of himself and former Big Brother star Skye Wheatley in a staged photo shoot from back in 2015, while out and about on their hometown of the Gold Coast in Brisbane.

Speaking up about his journey: Instagram sensation Kurt Coleman (pictured) has revealed he felt ‘ashamed’ by his own management who told him to ‘lose some weight’ after a photo shoot

Kurt, who is now based in Melbourne, wrote: ‘When the photos got released I got a call from my management at the time – telling me in the nicest way possible to lose some weight because I was filming an episode on a show in two weeks (called Plonk).

The social media star explained that he purchased Optifast meal replacement shakes to help him drop the excess weight, and shared pictures showing the dramatic before and after of his rapid ‘two week’ weight loss journey.

‘I did not eat one thing for two weeks except weight loss shakes and water because I thought I had to do that for my career,’ he said, adding that he ‘didn’t think twice about’ going on the extreme diet.

But looking back, the Instagram star said it left him feeling ‘extremely ashamed’ and ‘anxious thinking about it’.

He said: ‘That’s why I’m sharing this – don’t ever try to lose weight if you were happy before, in fact, I did not think I was even fat before I got told to try to lose weight.

He continued: ‘It is my fault – I was 18 years old and I shouldn’t have felt I needed to change myself.’

‘This is something I never thought I would be ashamed of. But here I am,’ Kurt concluded.
