The Bachelor’s Laura Byrne hits back at a mum-shamer who said her daughter Marlie-Mae shouldn’t be using a bottle at two years old


Former Bachelor star Laura Byrne has hit back at mum-shamers on Instagram. 

The 35-year-old took aim at a follower who insisted her daughter Marlie-Mae, two, shouldn’t be using a bottle 

‘Why would you post this? She is way too old for a bottle :/ you’re holding her back,’ the female troll wrote.

Laura questioned this unsolicited advice, and shared a screenshot of their exchange on Instagram. 

‘Holding her back from what? Using a cup? Let the kid live, she has her entire life to be a grumpy old cow messaging strangers on Insta,’ she responded.

The woman continued to take Laura to task for bottle-feeding Marlie-Mae.

‘Using a cup and learning these behaviour is totally [inappropriate],’ she added.  

‘What having a dummy and bottle at six is okay? What if she was to get picked on?… Just inappropriate for a public forum.’ 

Laura went on to explain that Marlie-Mae is two and a happy and healthy little girl.

She went on to slam the commentary, writing: ‘Imagine writing this s**t to someone? The shaming around motherhood is cooked.’

NSW Health encourages mothers to stop bottle-feeding their children at 12 months, and instead transition to using a cup. 

Laura and her fiancé Matty Johnson are also parents to a younger daughter, Lola.

‘With help. Marlie is in daycare a couple of days a week and Matt is really hands-on. We parent 50/50 and mutually respect each other’s careers,’ she explained.

‘Lola comes to work with me when I’m in the office and Matt has her when Brittany [Hockley] and I podcast, we just make it work.

‘It isn’t always pretty and we don’t always nail it, but it’s worth it.’
