‘Let’s smash this chemo’: Johnny Ruffo thanks his friends and fans for their ‘support’ while getting life-saving treatment in hospital – after revealing his brain cancer has returned

Former Home and Away star Johnny Ruffo recently revealed he is battling brain cancer for a second time. 

On Sunday, the 32-year-old shared an update of how he’s going to Instagram, alongside a photo of himself getting chemotherapy treatment.

‘Thank you so much for all the support, You guys have helped keep my spirits high and you keep me fighting,’ he wrote.

In one photo, Johnny is seen smiling while giving the camera a thumbs up while getting treatment.

A second image sees the former X Factor star posing with his girlfriend, Tahnee Sims, while waving at the camera.

Johnny revealed the heartbreaking news in a gut-wrenching social media post on his Instagram on November 24.

Johnny said he had suffered through a week of ‘seizures and excruciating headaches’ before being given the sad news. 

The actor was first diagnosed with the disease in 2017 but has been in remission.

‘After an unexpected week of seizures and excruciating headaches it is with a heavy heart that I have to let you know I now have another huge battle ahead of me as my brain cancer has returned,’ Johnny wrote on Instagram. 

Johnny rose to fame on talent show The X Factor in 2011, where he placed third. 

He later portrayed Chris Harrington on Home and Away from 2013 to 2016.

Johnny has been through an extremely public battle with brain cancer, always having long-time girlfriend Tahnee Simms by his side.  

The TV star’s life changed in August 2017 when he had a 7cm brain tumour surgically removed, before undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Doctors had discovered the tumour by chance after Johnny went to hospital with painful migraines.
