Liam Gallagher fumes as he’s asked to do two festivals in Wuhan but can’t see his ‘mam for Xmas’

Liam Gallagher has shared his disbelief at being asked to two festivals in Wuhan next year despite not even being able to spend Christmas with his family in the UK.

The Oasis star, 48, took to Twitter to share his frustration after it was announced on Saturday that London would be going into strict Tier 4 restrictions.

Clearly unimpressed by the latest change, Liam also made a cheeky comment about the rules and sparked a funny exchange with former T4 presenter Vernon Kay.

In the tweet, which appears to have since been deleted, Liam penned: ‘Well well well I’ve just been offered 2 festivals nxt summer in WUHAN can’t even go see my mam for Xmas you having a f***ing LAUGH c’mon you know well I do.’

Wuhan is considered the ‘ground zero’ of coronavirus however the city of 11million hasn’t reported a new locally transmitted case of the disease since May 10.

Liam had also earlier referenced the UK’s updated restrictions when he tweeted: ‘F**k T4 you f*****g absolute S**GZ’

The star was quickly flooded with responses from fans sharing their own opinions on the introduction of Tier 4, however he also caught the attention of Vernon Kay.

He replied twice to Liam’s cheeky tweet, at first joking: ‘Paid for our house that pal!!!’

He also referenced Liam’s T4/Tier 4 in another tweet where he named previous presenters of the show, saying: ‘The current T4 has nothing to do with myself @junesarpong @radioleary @benshephard MT. @SteveJones ect….’

June also got in on the action as she hilariously retweeted Liam’s tweet, adding: @Liamgallagher what did @vernonkay and I do? We’ve always been massive fans of yours.’

Tier 4 is similar to the national lockdown in November with non-essential retail, gyms, cinemas, hairdressers and bowling alleys forced to close for two weeks.

Under the new “stay at home” order – covering around a third of the population of England – people in Tier 4 will be told they should not stay away from home overnight and people from outside will be advised not to visit Tier 4 areas.

People throughout England are advised to “stay local” and avoid overseas travel, while those in Tier 4 will only be able to go abroad for essential business.

The new Tier 4 restrictions will apply in all Tier 3 areas in the South East – covering Kent, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Surrey (excluding Waverley), Gosport, Havant, Portsmouth, Rother and Hastings.

It will also apply in London (all 32 boroughs and the City of London) and the East of England – Bedford, Central Bedford, Milton Keynes, Luton, Peterborough, Hertfordshire and Essex (excluding Colchester, Uttlesford and Tendring).

Liam has spoken about the coronavirus pandemic several times since the first national lockdown back in March.

In June he revealed he postponed his wedding because he doesn’t want to shield his face while saying his vows.

The rocker was due to marry his long-time girlfriend Debbie Gwyther in Italy over the summer.

He insisted in March that their big day would still be going ahead even when the country was in full lockdown.

Speaking to Zoe Ball on BBC Radio 2, he said: ‘It’s been put back now until next year because I think we had to wear masks and stuff and I am not getting married with a mask on.’

The Wall Of Glass hitmaker proposed to Debbie whilst on holiday on the Amalfi Coast in August 2019

Liam also has announced a free concert at London’s 02 Arena for NHS staff working on the frontlines in April.
