Liam Neeson and Laurence Fishburne join forces in upcoming Netflix thriller The Ice Road

Liam Neeson and Laurence Fishburne star in a new trailer for their Netflix thriller The Ice Road, which was released Tuesday.

In the film, the veteran star, 68, plays the role of Mike, an ice road trucker working under pressure following a diamond mine collapse in northern Canada, putting a group of miners in grave danger.

In the preview clip, Mike is seen driving through a perilous route of snowstorms and thin ice, only to realize there are forces aligned against them.

Mike says, ‘We’ve been sabotaged’ amid the twists and turns of the journey, later saying, ‘This is personal – now I’m angry.’

Jonathan Hensleigh wrote and directed the film, as he’s past penned action films such as Die Hard with a Vengeance, Armageddon and The Punisher.

The motion picture was finished in early 2020 and Netflix picked up its rights for $18 million this past March.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight in January, Neeson opened up about his upcoming slate of action movies.

‘I’m 68 and a half – 69 this year,’ Neeson said. ‘There’s a couple more I’m going to do this year – hopefully, COVID allowing us – there’s a couple in the pipeline and, then I think that will probably be it. Well, unless I’m on a Zimmer frame or something.’

The movie is the latest action film from Neeson, who appeared in 2020’s Honest Thief and The Marksman earlier this year.

The Ice Road, also starring Benjamin Walker, Amber Midthunder and Marcus Thomas, is set to arrive on Netflix June 25.
