Love Island’s Chloe Crowhurst says ‘producers turned up at work and BEGGED her to appear on show’

Chloe Crowhurst has claimed that Love Island producers turned up at her former work and ‘begged’ her to appear on the hit ITV show.

The series three contestant, 24, discussed how she ended up on the show in 2017 during a chat with Scott McGlynn on Celebrity Skin Talk on Instagram.

Although at first refusing to appear because she was in the wrong ‘head space’ after a breakup, Chloe eventually agreed with just three hours before her flight to Spain.

‘I felt really pressured’: Chloe Crowhurst has claimed that Love Island producers turned up at her former work and ‘begged’ her to appear on the hit ITV show after she initially refused

Speaking during her Instagram interview, Chloe said joining Love Island was quite the whirlwind as she had only found out her boyfriend was ‘cheating’ days before producers approached her.

The blonde beauty had been dating TOWIE star Jon Clark before her stint on the show and has previously accused him of cheating with ’15 girls’.

She said: ‘On Wednesday I found out he’d been messaging other girls and then on Friday I got called up saying “come onto Love Island”. And I said no, because of all this stuff going on with Jon [Clark], who has also been on Love Island.

‘I had people, producers, turning up at my old work in Canary Wharf begging me to come on the show and I was like, “no I’m not doing it”.

‘I was in such a bad headspace at the time I just didn’t want to find love. I was already in love, I loved my ex-boyfriend.’

She continued: ‘They were turning up at my work and felt really pressured and one day they were like “I’ve booked you a flight” and I told them “see you later I ain’t doing it, I’ve told you numerous times I’m not doing it”

‘Then two days later I started getting loads of messages from people and I thought what better revenge than to go onto Love Island.’

Chloe said this inspired her change of heart, with her ending up flying to Mallorca for the show on the same day.

She added: ‘So I called the producers and told them book me a flight today and I’ll come… I was out at the time, I had three hours to get packed and get to the airport.

‘I turned up at home and there’s a producer at my house who’s packed for me… anyway I got to Spain and I didn’t even have any knickers in my suitcase but at least I had lots of bikinis.’

Chloe also alleged that she didn’t receive any support after the show from producers and said she wouldn’t recommend going on Love Island to other hopefuls.

MailOnline has contacted Love Island and Jon’s representative for a comment.

Chloe and Jon had a rocky relationship over the span of a year, with their romance originally ending when Chloe headed into the Love Island villa in June 2017.

What followed was a very public war of words between the former couple, with Jon also clashing with CBB star Calum Best, who he thought had been dating Chloe.

The couple did eventually rekindle their romance, following Jon’s split from TOWIE co-star Lauren Pope, though they split again in November 2017.

During her time on the show, scandal arose as season one Islander turned TOWIE star Jon claimed Chloe had dumped him to appear on the series.

Chloe appeared alongside stars including Olivia Attwood and Amber Davies on Love Island however her journey came to an end at the hand of her fellow Islanders, as she was booted off for being in the ‘least compatible’ couple, as voted by the others.

At the time she was coupled with Sam Gowland – with the pair agreeing their relationship was purely platonic – who later returned to the villa and coupled up with Georgia Harrison.

Since Chloe’s appearance on the show, ITV have launched an aftercare package for islanders following backlash from former contestants following the tragic deaths of Sophie Gradon and Mike Thalassitis.

Producers now offer extensive care before, during and after the reality show, including increased therapy, social media training and even financial management.

Love Island vowed they will work with GPs and psychological consultants to ensure hopeful contestants’ mental health are strong enough to take part.

A Love Island spokesperson told The Sun at the time: ‘The medical team also contacts each Islander’s GP to check they feel that person is able to take part.’

It was also announced in 2018 that during filming, there is a medical team who can be talked with at any time and who monitor contestants inside the villa.

And when it comes to aftercare, Love Island ensure they give contestants a debrief on location with a psychological consultant and also advice on adjusting to fame.
