Love Island’s Rebecca Gormley’s arm injury could take nine months to heal

She revealed in February that she underwent surgery correct her injured right arm following an ‘awful’ fall.  

And Rebecca Gormley’s boyfriend Biggs Chris, 28, has told how she needs help with daily tasks and she could take up to nine months to heal. 

The Love Island star, 22, tore a ligament in her shoulder after accidentally falling off her bed ‘in a really awkward way’.

Biggs – who met Rebecca on the first winter series of Love Island last year – has revealed that his partner is unable to lift her arm and finds it difficult to carry out day to day activities such as showering and getting changed alone.

Speaking to The Sun, he explained: ‘She fell off the bed in a really awkward way and tore the ligaments from her neck to her shoulder. It could take up to nine months to heal.

‘She can’t lift her arm. I had to really help out and do everything for her. Even her getting showered and changed, she needs help with that. It’s so surreal. Her mum has been so supportive as well.’

Rebecca and Biggs have been dating for nearly a year following their stint on the ITV dating series in 2020.

Sharing a video of her wearing a cast to Instagram in January, she told fans she was ‘just sick of crying and being in pain’ while she reflected on her life exactly a year from entering the Love Island villa. 

She said: ‘Hi everyone I just wanted to come and chat quickly to give you an update. I’m struggling to reply to people because I’m right handed and that’s the arm I’ve damaged.

‘Basically I fell and that’s the arm I damaged really bad. Basically I fell and I’m lucky I didn’t snap my neck. You’ve got this clavical (collarbone) bone. It’s like it came out of its place but it’s damaged as well.’

Admitting she could ‘hardly move’, she elaborated: ‘It’s like one of the four worst bones to damage or break in your body so you can imagine the pain I’m in.’

The following month, the reality star gave fans an update on her recovery, and confessed she felt ‘so uncomfortable’ following surgery.

Sporting a crop top and grey shorts, Rebecca also engaged in a series of light exercises to help heal her injuries.

She admitted at the time that she hasn’t been able to follow her regular hair regime since the procedure as she shared: ‘My hair hasn’t been washed in nine days as since having the operation, I haven’t been able to get my tresses wet.

‘So I’ve just been sitting in the bath just to have a little wash. I’ve managed to wash it once since the operation, which was two weeks ago.

‘You can imagine how greasy it is, dry shampoo can’t even help it. I’ve had me dressings off and I went to the hospital yesterday.’

Rebecca then went on to perform a range of stretches, which she has to repeat three times a day.

Grimacing in pain, she said: ‘I have to keep the front and the back one on as it hasn’t healed properly, it’s still a bit raw. I’m going to be able to go in the shower and wash me hair properly tomorrow!

‘I’m proper buzzing, I didn’t know I’d be this excited to wash my hair! My hair is my pride and joy. Now my arm aches but that’s normal. It’s so so so uncomfortable but it has to be done and I’ll get physio for it.’
