This £1.5m luxury lodge house enjoys the best of both worlds as it sits in a wooded valley but has stunning views of the sea.

The rustic-looking property is surrounded on three sides by woodland and countryside.

But 200 yards in front of it is Cornwall’s Maenporth Beach and the spectacular vista of Falmouth Bay beyond.

The house, called Maenvale, replaced an old bungalow that stood on the site until 2007.

It has over 2,100 sq ft with a full-height galleried reception hall, triple aspect sitting room, one bedroom with an en suite, two further double bedrooms and a family bathroom on the ground floor.

The first floor has a master bedroom with an en suite and its own balcony and a kitchen/dining room that opens to another balcony to make the most of the beautiful views over the valley and bay.

Outside the house has a double garage and sits in about a quarter of an acre of grounds.

The property is at the end of a private lane and just a few hundred yards from Maenporth Beach.

Jamie Bettsworth, from estate agents Lillicrap Chilcott, said: ‘The house was built to a very individual design in 2007 and hasn’t dated at all.
