Madonna shares sweet throwback snap of herself as a baby alongside her mother

Madonna shared a sweet throwback snap with her mother on Sunday to mark Mother’s Day.

The Queen of Pop, 62, took to Instagram to share an image with her beloved parent Madonna Ciccone, who died in 1963, with the pair of them both sporting a mock-up of her signature ‘Madame X’ eye patches.

The mother and daughter photo sees a young Madonna sitting on the lap of her mother, who sadly passed when Madonna was just five years old.

In reference to her alter-ego Madame X, the Crazy For You hitmaker superimposed her famous black eye patches featuring a red X onto her baby self and her parent.

Explaining why she wears an eye patch as part of her latest persona, Madonna told Today in 2019: ‘She’s a spy. She’s a secret agent. She travels the world. She changes her identity. She sleeps with one eye open. And she travels through the day with one eye shut. She’s actually been wounded. So she’s covering up one of her eyes’.

A selection of bangles and bracelets adorned both of her wrists as she grabbed hold of the instrument on the wall.

In one picture, Madonna had switched her outfit up slightly and put on a light stencil-patterned overcoat and chunky glasses.

Posting the images early on Sunday, the star wrote: ‘Hanging onto this guitar and longing for the moment when I can create new ART………….Madame ❌ is almost finished!’

In the black-and-white photos, Madonna wore a similar outfit, except around her shoulders she had draped a shiny coat with a fluffy collar.

The caption posted alongside those pictures read: ‘yes Wide Shut………… Madame ❌. @therealmikedean @laurendelia’.

The two sets of studio snaps come after Madonna revealed she had tattooed a red ‘X’ on her right wrist.

The Queen of Pop enlisted Proud of You artist Robbie ‘Ra’ Moore, a Koreatown-based handpoke & machine specialist, to permanently brand her.

‘Does everyone get really f***ed up when they get tattoos? So they don’t, like, feel anything? Should I drink more wine?’ the self-made superstar nervously asked Robbie.

‘I’m ready, yeah. Do you have a bullet for me to bite down on? Ow, ow, oooooh that hurts. Oh my god, I really don’t like you right now.

‘Even if I complain, don’t feel like you have to stop. I’m used to people hurting me and also I’m also used to being in pain. Why do you need a bigger needle? Everything is coming into focus now.’

When Madonna told her 15-year-old son David Banda that it was going to be ‘blood red’ he replied: ‘Blood red, huh? Because this revolution business is a bloody business.’
