MAFS Amanda Micallef reveals her meltdown after doing the COVID test while in hotel quarantine 

It was been a tough day for Married At First Sight star Amanda Micallef.

The former reality star, who is currently in hotel quarantine after moving from Melbourne to Queensland’s Gold Coast, vented her frustrations in an emotional series of Instagram videos on Friday.

The 34-year-old said: ‘I get a knock at the door. My coffee, which took about three hours to come or whatever it was.

‘I get a second knock at the door, “who’s this”? They’re here for testing. I go “what’s going on?” and they said “well, day five testing.”‘

She explained that she was under the impression that testing would be done on day ten of her 14 day quarantine.

Amanda continued: ‘They (testing staff) said there’s been a new directive from the Chief Health Officer, and I go “were you going to communicate that or…”.’

‘So they’ve got me completely off guard and I’ve had to sit through this test. And I’ve got to say it is the most uncomfortable thing I’ve ever experienced in my life,’ she said.

‘I actually cried after it, I didn’t like it,’ she said, but before describing the feeling she trailed off and appeared to become emotional.

Back in August, Amanda announced top her legions of followers that she was moving from Melbourne to the Gold Coast to ‘start a brand new life’ in the Sunshine state as a result of the Victorian COVID crisis.

Back in July, the strength coach was slammed for spreading COVID-19 conspiracy theories on social media during the pandemic.

In a since deleted post, she urged Melburnians to stop wearing face masks after they were made compulsory following a surge in cases. 

Amanda wrote, in the since-deleted post: ‘I’d rather shoot myself in the face than wear a mask. I REFUSE to strip my identity for a fake agenda. I DO NOT CONSENT.’

She copped plenty of backlash over her view to not wear a mask, and later addressed the hate and death threats she received as a result. 

The reality star began by explaining that her decision to remove the video was down to not wanting to impact the businesses of her friends. 

Amanda said she understands it’s a ‘touchy subject’ and is ‘learning to have a filter’.    

She revealed that being a public figure has subjected her to ridicule, saying: ‘What was wrong with that post was some of the DMs I copped. I copped a death threat over it,’ she said.

The personal trainer added that those who think wearing masks will fix the pandemic are ‘fooling’ themselves, and will wear a mask herself just to ‘appease society’.

‘So I will wear a mask to appease everyone but just know, that I don’t agree with it. And there’s a lot of people who don’t agree with it,’ she said.

As of Tuesday, Melbourne has eased its tough lockdown restrictions allowing residents to leave their homes for any reason.

Retail stores, salons, beauty services, pubs and restaurants to also allowed to open but at limited capacities.
