Married At First Sight expert Mel Schilling celebrates the end of Covid lockdown in Brighton as her family joins her ahead of filming the British version


Married At First Sight relationship expert Mel Schilling flew to the UK earlier this month to film the British version of the show.

And the 49-year-old dating guru celebrated the end of Covid lockdown on Thursday at her holiday home in Brighton, a seaside town 75km south of London.

She shared a selfie with the famous Brighton Palace Pier amusement park behind her as people strolled on the nearby boardwalk.

The beaming blonde, who was wrapped up in a puffy coat and a grey scarf, wrote in the caption: ‘Lockdown is O.V.E.R.’

Australian Mel had flown out to Britain earlier this month after being granted an exemption to travel because of her involvement in Married At First Sight UK.

Her husband, Gareth Brisbane, and their six-year-old daughter, Madison, are still waiting for their exemptions from immigration officials.

She wrote on Instagram at the time: ‘I’m very aware of how lucky I am to be travelling internationally at the moment and so grateful to [British TV production company] CPL Productions for unwavering support and encouragement.’

Mel said she’d been granted her exemption after ‘two weeks of uncertainty’, and that her family would be joining her as soon as they are permitted.

‘Covid has added a whole new level of complexity to international travel and I’m just so grateful… It’s been a real team effort!’ she added.

Mel announced she was joining the ‘revamped’ UK version of Married At First Sight in March.

The reality show is being ‘sexed-up’ following the popularity of the scandalous Australian series, which was a lockdown hit on E4 this year.
