MAFS: Matt Bennett developed a bladder infection after long wedding shoot

Former Married At First Sight star Matthew Bennett has given fans a peek behind the reality TV curtain – and it’s not exactly glamorous. 

The videographer, 32, alleged in a YouTube video that he’d developed a urinary tract infection early on in the production process.

Matthew, who is best known for being a virgin at the start of the 2019 season, claimed he ‘had a bladder infection on the honeymoon’ because there wasn’t an opportunity for him to use the toilet on his wedding day.

He said he was only able to go to the toilet ‘twice during the whole day’ due to the complexity of shooting his wedding to Lauren Huntriss.  

Matt also also spoke about his famously fraught relationship with ‘wife’ Huntriss, without ever actually using her name. 

He said he ‘made a formal complaint’ about his ‘partner’ over her behaviour when cameras weren’t rolling.

Then, during the show’s second dinner party, Matthew told Lauren he wasn’t physically attracted to her, after which she became more hostile towards him.

‘The producers told me they were moving me [to another room] because she was incredibly unpredictable an,’ he claimed.

He alleged that their rapidly deteriorating relationship about this time ‘explains my shock exit from the show’. 

He went on to claim he got ‘a lot of text messages’ from Lauren following their split, but didn’t block her because ‘I knew there was a reunion coming up’.

However, once their storyline finally concluded, he blocked her.

‘It was so much better, because I was now no longer afraid to check my phone,’ said Matt, who has since moved on with girlfriend Annabel Jameson.
