Married At First Sight groom Cameron Dunne explains why he prioritised work over love

He stormed out of the first dinner party on Monday’s Married At First Sight after a disagreement with his ‘wife’ Samantha Harvey.

And it appears that Cameron Dunne’s audition tape for the Channel Nine experiment explains why he’s such a rookie when it comes to relationships.

In the clip, released on Nine Now on Tuesday, the 32-year-old crane operator revealed to a producer that his work always came before love.

‘Work was a very big priority’: Married At First Sight groom Cameron Dunne revealed why he prioritised work over love and relationship in his audition tape for the social experiment, released by Channel Nine on Tuesday

Cameron explained that his parents’ divorce made an impact on his view of marriage.

‘Work was a very big priority for me growing up, I came from a family (where) my parents are divorced,’ he said.

‘I always looked at work as that priority because I didn’t want to get into a relationship and then it fail.’

When asked what kind of a person he was looking to settle down with, Cameron said: ‘I’d like someone that’s a hard worker too, that values hard work as a priority.

‘An excuse that’s come to mind when I’ve dated before is I work too much, and I want someone who will see that as a quality rather than a negative thing,’ he added.

During Monday’s dinner party with the other couples, the pair were probed about their lack of interaction with each other, to which Samantha shared what had happened on their honeymoon.

Cameron explained: ‘Yes, we got intimate because it felt right… I told Sam that she was attractive, that she’s not the type of person I usually go for.

He added: ‘Yes, there’s a connection. Emotional connection? No, not yet. That’s honesty.’

‘You left me on the honeymoon and walked off, and ripped your microphone off and said, “Why am I matched with this girl? I want out of this experiment,” because of our first hard conversation,’ she began.

Cameron then stood up and abruptly walked out, before calling the situation ‘so f**king painful’.

Later, Cam said Samantha was ‘not open to my thoughts’ and ‘doesn’t want to hear what I have to say’.

‘I feel defeated, honestly… I’m not perfect… The thing is, I can’t even tell my story. This is the problem that I’ve got. I’m not being heard by her at all.’

Becoming emotional, Cameron added: ‘F**k, like I’m done. I’m done, because it’s so draining.’

He added: ‘It’s pretty clear that the only option at the next commitment ceremony is to write “leave”.’
