Married At First Sight’s Billy thought his ‘marriage’ to Susie was LEGAL

Married At First Sight’s Billy Vincent thought his ‘marriage’ to Susie Bradley was LEGAL… and admits it took him three days to realise it was fake and that they wouldn’t need a divorce

Billy Vincent and Susie Bradley are arguably one of the most controversial couples in Married At First Sight history.

And although their marriage was just for reality TV, Billy has now admitted that he thought their union was legally binding when he first appeared on the show.

Speaking to the Dames Who Dish podcast, the 30-year-old admitted that it took him three days to realise that the marriage wasn’t actually real.

‘I thought I was getting actually married’: Married At First Sight’s Billy Vincent has admitted that he thought his TV wedding to Susie Bradley was legally binding

‘I really wasn’t prepared, I hadn’t watched the show before,’ he said.

‘I came into it a completely blank slate. I thought I was getting actually married, I thought it was a legally binding contract.

Billy said that he didn’t read through the fine print of his contract after signing on for the show and assumed that he’d have to get a divorce to end his relationship with Susie.

‘It wasn’t until three days after the wedding that I realised that it wasn’t actually a legit wedding,’ he confessed.

Billy’s season of Married At First Sight recently aired in the UK and is now airing in the US.

Susie has received extreme backlash from viewers in both countries, and was even labelled ‘Britain’s most hated bride’ after the UK airing.

Much like Australians were in 2019, British viewers were left reeling after watching Susie’s toxic relationship with on-screen husband Billy.

Countless people flocked to social media at the time to express their shock over Susie’s antics after she repeatedly berated Billy.

In one memorable scene, Susie attacked Billy at the beach after he told a white lie about being able to surf, which ended with him in tears.

Another iconic scene was the couple’s first commitment ceremony, in which Susie said Billy wasn’t ‘manly’ enough for her.

‘Billy stares, he’s very awkward and makes me very uncomfortable,’ she seethed.

‘The silly odd things that come out of his mouth freak me out. He is a lot to take in,’ she added.

Fighting back more tears, Billy responded: ‘I am trying so hard. I am just trying to be a nice person.’

British viewers didn’t hold back on social media, with one writing: ‘Just when we thought the show couldn’t find anyone worse than Davina or Ines… they introduce the delightful Susie.’

Another tweeted: ‘Billy’s only mistake was putting Susie on a pedestal at the start. She’s used that to try and control and belittle him.

‘Really can’t understand why she’s so mean to him. What has he done that’s so bad.’
