Married At First Sight’s Bryce Ruthven reveals shock engagement details – as he and bride Melissa Rawson skip the final MAFS dinner party

Married At First Sight’s Bryce Ruthven has revealed previously unheard details about his engagement to his former fiancée, Lana Bongioletti.

Bryce and Lana began dating in 2015 and had been together for five years when he abruptly called off their wedding in mid-2020.

In his audition interview, shared by Nine, the 31-year-old radio announcer explained why it didn’t work out.

‘I was in a five-year relationship. I was engaged as well and then I called it off because I felt we’d grown apart over the past 12 to 18 months,’ he said. 

‘She’s not on the same page as I am in terms of what we want out of time.’

Bryce added: ‘I thought you know what, not going to waste any time. It’s sort of just preventing the inevitable… just make the call’.

Photos show the former couple regularly travelled around Australia, sharing loved-up selfies from the Melbourne Cricket Ground and various hotspots around Brisbane. 

They celebrated one year since their engagement in January 2020 by visiting the Gold Coast. He shared a post from their getaway on his now-deleted Twitter page.

‘One year on… and she’s still around!’ Bryce captioned a photo of the pair.

In the image, Lana showed off her diamond engagement ring while resting her hand on her then-fiancé’s chest.

The pair relocated to Canberra in May last year, when it was announced Bryce would be hosting the afternoon and weekend shift with Ellie Mobbs and Jason Roses.

He called time on their relationship shortly after making the move.

It comes after news that Bryce and bride Melissa Rawson, 31, will not be attending Sunday’s final dinner party.

The pair decided not to attend following heated clashes with their co-stars at the boys’ and girls’ nights.

Bryce and Melissa were noticeably absent during filming on November 26 as the other couples arrived at the warehouse set in Lilyfield, Sydney.
