MasterChef fans go wild after Tonka chef Adam D’Sylva stops to help contestant Eric Mao fillet a kingfish in touching act of sportsmanship

It’s Masters Week on MasterChef.

And on Monday, fans of the reality show erupted in praise for Tonka chef Adam D’Sylva after he stopped to help rival contestant, Eric Mao.

During their service challenge, Adam could see medical student Eric having trouble filleting a kingfish for service.

Adam initially offered a playful jibe about him ‘leaving too much fish on the bone’, before coming over to offer his expertise in the kitchen.

‘I’ll give you a little tip,’ Adam said heroically, with Eric appearing flustered.

‘You don’t fillet [big fish] like a small fish,’ he began. ‘There’s a big bone down the middle [of the fish]. So you’ve got to do it in two go’s.’

Finding the backbone, he continued: ‘Just do a little incision, run your knife along there. Then you go back again. And you’ll feel the spine of the kingfish.’

Eric and his team were more than thankful for the advice with him Adam suggesting he can fillet his prawns.

Eric was clearly relieved, with the other contestants in the gantry cheering.
