MasterChef fans hilariously label edit of judges tasting so-so dishes ‘the montage of mediocrity’

Die-hard MasterChef fans have noticed a recurring pattern on the hit reality show.

Whenever it’s time for the judges to taste the dishes, a montage is played featuring all the contestants who failed to impress or disappoint.

Fans have hilariously nicknamed the edit ‘the montage of mediocrity’, posting about it on Twitter.

‘And here’s the montage of the people not in the running for a pin,’ tweeted one viewer, while another simply wrote: ‘Montage of mediocrity!’

While there’s usually a lead up to the montage, it played after the judges tasted just one dish during Wednesday’s episode.

This prompted many viewers to speculate that the majority of the dishes must’ve been especially average.

‘Wow montage of mediocrity already!’ tweeted one fan, while another added, ‘Oh wow. Montage already?’

One viewer even noticed that the montage appeared to have its own theme song: ‘The montage of mediocrity music hasn’t changed!’

Another lamented how disappointing it must be to make it onto the show, only to then feature for a few seconds in a montage.

Meanwhile, another shrewd viewer suggested ways the contestants could increase their screen time, while also bettering their food.

‘Any #MasterChefAU dish can be improved with the saltiness of tears,’ they tweeted.
