Matt Preston jokes POO party will be held at Pete Evans’ clinic

Another high-profile Channel Seven talent has turned his back on disgraced former My Kitchen Rules judge Pete Evans.

Matt Preston, who hosts Seven’s new cooking show Plate of Origin, mocked the COVID-19 conspiracy theorist on Thursday for opening a ‘healing clinic’ in Byron Bay.

The ex-MasterChef star joked on Fitzy & Wippa that Plate of Origin could host its wrap party at Evans’ newly opened Evolve Health Lab – but only if the anti-vaxxer supplies ‘masks and hand sanitiser’.

‘We heard for the wrap party, you boys are all going to get together and go up to Byron Bay to Pete’s new retreat. Is that right Matty?’ radio host Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald asked.

‘Only if we get hand sanitiser and masks, then we will definitely be there,’ Matt replied, before adding: ‘There is no wrap party yet.’

It comes just a day after Sam Mac, the weather presenter for Seven breakfast show Sunrise, ridiculed Evans for being an anti-masker.

The 38-year-old funnyman shared a photo to Instagram on Wednesday of himself in a novelty face mask while holding his pet cat, Coco.

Coco wasn’t wearing a mask because domestic animals don’t have to, but Sam joked that his furry friend was a COVID-19 denier, like Evans.

‘The awkward moment you discover your cat is an anti-masker. Well sorry Coco, sorry you weren’t rescued by Pete Evans,’ he wrote in the caption.

Sam’s scathing post all but confirms that Evans, 47, is no longer on friendly terms with Channel Seven, the network which employed him for 10 years.

He lost his $800,000-a-year job as a judge on My Kitchen Rules in May because of his dangerous and unscientific views.

For years before his sacking, however, it had been rumoured that Seven bosses viewed Evans as an expensive liability.

Last month, Evans shared a Facebook post encouraging people in Victoria not to wear face masks after Premier Daniel Andrews made them mandatory in public spaces.

In a now-deleted Facebook post, he said it was ‘far too expensive’ for the state government to defend the fines, making the rule effectively meaningless.

This ridiculous advice prompted backlash from sensible Australians, who labelled him a ‘danger to humanity’.

The mask rule was enforced across the state of Victoria on Monday, August 3.

People who do not wear masks in public face fines of $200, unless they have been granted a medical exemption.

Wearing a face mask can help prevent the spread of coronavirus because it limits infections spread by airborne transmission.

Evans has been involved in a string of controversies since being sacked by Channel Seven earlier this year for his extreme views.

In July, he claimed that COVID-19 was a ‘f**king hoax’ and that the pandemic ‘doesn’t compare to what is happening in the world on a large scale’.

He has also encouraged people to ignore government safety measures, such as the order to wear masks in public in Victoria, and to challenge fines through the courts.

Among his false claims about the pandemic, Pete has previously declared he’s immune to coronavirus, and blamed the health crisis on 5G technology.

He recently endorsed fellow conspiracy theorist David Icke, a Holocaust denier who was denied entry to Australia last year after protests from the Jewish community.

It is not suggested that Evans endorses the views of Icke relating specifically to Holocaust denial or the Jewish people. He instead supports Icke’s views on globalist conspiracy theories and media manipulation.

Evans’ central belief is that ‘food is medicine’ and that by following a Paleo diet, people can develop superhuman immune systems that can withstand all illnesses, including COVID-19.

There is absolutely no scientific basis for this. Following a particular diet does not make a person any less likely to contract the deadly respiratory virus.
