‘I’m pregnant!’ MKR’s Ash Pollard announces she is expecting her first child with boyfriend Pete Ferne

Former My Kitchen Rules star Ash Pollard is expecting her first child with boyfriend Pete Ferne.

The 34-year-old radio presenter made the announcement live on her Hit101.3  breakfast show on Tuesday.

Before revealing the news, Ash made her co-host Daniel ‘Gawndy’ Gawned sniff her pregnancy test.

Ash gave Gawndy a pair of hospital-grade gloves, a blindfold and a box for what he thought was just a mystery box challenge.

Inside the box was Ash’s pregnancy test, which he smelt while trying to work out what the item was.

‘It smells like nothing. I can’t smell anything on that,’ Gawndy said, before somehow guessing it was a pregnancy test.

Guess what's in the box! Before revealing the news, Ash made her co-host Daniel 'Gawndy' Gawned sniff her pregnancy test

‘I’m pregnant!’ Ash then screamed.

‘What, are you serious?! Congratulations… That explains all the moods,’ Gawndy replied.

Ash, who is due to give birth in September, said the news had come as a ‘surprise’.

Ash also joked that her father had told she was having a ‘bastard child’ because she and Pete are yet to marry.

On Tuesday, she shared a photo to Instagram of herself and Pete at a wedding, which she claimed was taken on the ‘day of conception’.

She also uploaded an ultrasound scan, which she captioned: ‘Mother sick as a dog but getting on with it, father putting up with mood swings well.’

Ash has been dating builder Pete, 35, since 2017.

Last month, she revealed that she’d been diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome and was told it would be difficult to start a family.

She became tearful on her radio show, saying: ‘All I want to do is keep going leaps and bounds in my career but now I’m like, “What do I do?”

‘Do I think about my career or do I think about having a kid?’

WHAT IS POLYCYSTIC OVARY SYNDROME?

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common condition that affects how a woman’s ovaries work which can lead to fertility issues.

The three main features of PCOS are:

Irregular periods – which means the ovaries don’t regularly release eggs (ovulation). This can affect a woman’s ability to get pregnant.

Excess androgen – high levels of ‘male hormones’ in the body, which may cause physical signs such as excess facial or body hair.

Polycystic ovaries – the ovaries become enlarged and contain many fluid-filled sacs (follicles) which surround the eggs and can stop them from being released. It’s important to note that, despite the name, if you have PCOS you don’t actually have cysts.
