Australian actress Naomi Watts stepped out to get some fresh air alongside her pet pup in New York City on Saturday.

In between strides, Naomi was spotted on a video call with her American actor boyfriend, Billy Crudup, 52.

Naomi sported brown tights and a nautical T-shirt that she teamed with an over-sized khaki coat.

During her walk, she was joined by her puppy on a pink leash, who stopped to sniff out a street-side garden.

The Australian star resides in New York City with her two sons, Sasha, 13, and Kai, 12 – where she amicably raises them alongside her former husband, Liev Schreiber.

Despite living abroad for decades, the actress admitted she’s never felt more proud to be an Aussie after recently playing an ‘extraordinary’ Australian woman in the heartwarming real-life story Penguin Bloom.

In December, during an interview with Channel Seven’s Sunrise, Naomi spoke of the lengths the filmmakers went to in order to tell Samantha Bloom’s story in the ‘most authentic’ way possible.

She said it was incredible working alongside – and portraying – the ‘extraordinary woman’, who struck up an unlikely friendship with a young and wounded magpie after an accident in Thailand left her paralysed from the chest down.

The Hollywood star explained that ‘multiple birds’, who were all ‘supremely trained’, were used to play Penguin the magpie in the movie.

‘We had a little bit of CGI and animatronics were needed, but they just kept performing… It was unpredictable [working with magpies] and there was a lot of anticipation in the lead up to it,’ she added.
