Former Neighbours star Nicola Charles is labelled a racist over 2000 times on Twitter after calling Trump ‘the best president in modern US history’

Outspoken Australian soap star Nicola Charles has received an onslaught of hate on Twitter for praising Donald Trump as the ‘best president in modern US history.’

The 51-year-old actress, who rose to fame playing seductress Sarah Beaumont on Neighbours in 1995, sparked controversy on Saturday when she publicly Tweeted about America’s tumultuous political climate.

‘We have watched on from Australia & cannot believe this happened in America,’ she Tweeted directly to Trump – whose account has since been permanently banned.

‘Big tech should have been dealt with 1st day in office. Appalling control and bias,’ she wrote.

‘You were the best President in modern history & thank you for being the voice of the people. My 2 American kids love you,’ the soap star added.

Despite receiving widespread backlash backlash for her beliefs, Nicola doubled down by accusing her critics of having ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome’ – a pejorative term describing a condition where the mere mention of Trump’s name induces hysteria.
