New Married At First Sight groom Russell Duance shares horror dating story: ‘The whole thing lasted 14 minutes’

He’s one of the new batch of grooms ready to be married at first sight.

But Russell Duance admitted he hasn’t previously been lucky in love in a new promo for Married at First Sight’s 2021 season.

The 37-year-old told a dating horror story during an amusing, no-holds-barred interview on Wednesday.

Russell revealed he had once taken a vegan woman on a date to a steak restaurant.

‘I didn’t know she was vegan,’ said the diesel mechanic. ‘The whole date lasted like 14 minutes.’

Duance has been married once previously, under unusual circumstances.

He popped the question to a stranger as a joke while holidaying in Las Vegas, according to 9Now.

The pair began dating and eventually married, but their union only lasted for a year and Russell has been single for the last four years.

The South Australian also revealed it wasn’t his idea to apply for the reality TV series.

‘A mate signed me up as a practical joke. He said, “I’ve half filled in the application, just finish this off,”‘ Russell said.

‘I’ve opened up the email and went, “They’re not going to pick someone like me.”

‘When I made it through to the interview part I actually kind of thought it was still a bit of a practical joke. I said to them, “You can probably find some better people.”‘
