A future in Basketball? Tennis bad boy Nick Kyrgios proves he can shoot some hoops at an NBA promotional event in Bondi


He’s the tennis bad boy who was recently announced as the newest Australian Ninja Warrior contestant.

And on Thursday, Nick Kyrgios showcase his multitalented skillset during a promotional event at Sydney’s Bondi Icebergs CLUB.

The 25-year-old shot hoops in a pool that had been emptied out and turned into giant Basketball courts in celebration of a global partnership with the NBA.

Nick was a natural on the court, sinking baskets with ease – proving a career in basketball may not be inconceivable.

In fact the notorious umpire-argument-factory’s biggest obstacle may be that he’d likely get fouled-out of games.

He was dressed in a green Nike jumper, $600 Nike Air Jordan 4 Retro Basketball trainers and black track pants.   

American basketballer Corey Williams joined Nick for the event and was impressed by the Aussie’s skills.

He’ll get a chance to flaunt his athleticism later this year, as he was announced as a contestant on Channel Nine’s hit obstacle course show Australian Ninja Warrior. 

Nick was introduced in a recent trailer, alongside returning commentators Ben Fordham, Rebecca Maddern and Shane Crawford. 

The course was teased as ‘the toughest of all time’ with obstacles now including underwater challenges.

Nick was shown holding a microphone while watching athletes compete.

‘Is that all you got?’ he mocked one contestant, shrugging his shoulders as if to imply he could do better.

Australian Ninja Warrior will air later this year on Channel Nine.
