Noah Schnapp comes under fire as video surfaces appearing to say the n-word repeatedly… though he claims to be saying ‘neighbor’

Noah Schnapp has come under fire after an Instagram video  from last year surfaced on social media, where he appears to be singing the n-word repeatedly.

The 15-year-old Stranger Things star was seen in a video singing the 2019 Lil’ Dicky song Freaky Friday featuring Chris Brown, where he appears to sing the n-word numerous times while singing the song.

While thousands of fans expressed their distaste for the actor with the trending #NoahSchnappIsOver hashtag, the actor claimed on his Instagram story that he wasn’t saying the n-word, he was saying ‘neighbor.’

The video was originally posted by a friend of Schnapp’s, who was reminiscing about her memories with Schnapp at camp from last summer.

‘It’s crazy how much free time I’ve had to look through memories on corona vacation,’ the friend said in her caption of the video.

The video was posted on Twitter by @teakings, who said the video was ‘circulating online,’ leading to the #NoahSchnappIsOverParty hashtag which has over 17K tweets.

Schnapp took to his Instagram story to defend himself with a statement, where he denied that he ever said the n-word at all.

‘Hi guys. Recently a video from last summer has gotten out of me dancing and singing a song while singing the word “neighbor” over the n word,’ Schnapp began.

‘I would truly never say the n word and I’m not the type of person. I genuinely have never used that word in my life,’ he added.

‘Using the word “neighbor” in that song was just something my camp friends and I did,’ he continued.

‘I hope you all understand I could never even think about doing that. My friends also would never post a video, or support me, if I was saying that slur without hesitation,’ the actor said.

‘I apologize for using a replacement word. It is not my place to use one and I should of kept my mouth shut. I understand why it is found offensive and I am so sorry,’ Schnapp concluded.

The incident comes just over a week after Schnapp’s Twitter account was hacked, with the hacker posting ‘Suicidal thoughts’ on Saturday, August 15.

That was his first tweet since July 16, though he quickly reassured fans that it wasn’t him who tweeted that, and he had been hacked.

He also made headlines in February when he claimed there will be at least two more seasons of his hit Netflix series Stranger Things.
