‘Nothing better!’ Bill Gates’ oldest daughter Jennifer posts Instagram picture of them together

Bill Gates has appeared for the first time since announcing his divorce, posing for an Instagram picture with his oldest daughter, dampening rumors she and her siblings were ‘angry’ with him over the decision to split from their mom.

Jennifer Gates, 25, posted a photograph with her billionaire father on her Instagram story on Thursday night.

The medical student wrote alongside it: ‘Nothing better than quality time with family members’.

It’s unclear where the picture was taken – Bill is an avid golfer and has reportedly been holed up at an exclusive golf club in California where he owns a mansion since news of the split broke.

It’s the first time Bill has been seen since he announced his divorce from his wife Melinda. The pair have been married for 23 years.

Jennifer is the only one of their three kids to address it publicly. She said on Instagram that it had been a ‘challenging stretch’ for the family.

Then, reports emerged that the kids – Jennifer, 25, Rory, 21, and Phoebe, 18 – were angry with their Microsoft founder father.

On Tuesday, The New York Post reported that Gates had been telling friends on the golf course that his marriage was ‘loveless’.

‘Bill did talk to his close friends on the golf course,’ the insider said.

‘He told them a while back that the marriage was loveless, that it had been over for some time and they were living separate lives.’

It was a claim made by anonymous sources cited by TMZ who said the kids fled with Melinda to a private Caribbean island to escape the divorce drama while lawyers on either side hashed out a financial settlement.

Neither Bill nor Melinda has given a reason for the split, saying only in a statement that they can no longer ‘grow’ together as a couple.

Bill, 65, is the fourth richest man in the world with an estimated fortune of $130billion.

Melinda, 56, has been given more than $2billion in stocks since they announced their split.

In a joint statement posted to their Twitter accounts, Bill and Melinda said their work with their foundation will continue but their marriage will not.

‘After a great deal of thought and a lot of work, we have made the decision to end our marriage.

‘Over the last 27 years, we have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives.

‘We continue to share a belief in that mission and will continue to work together at the foundation, but we no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in this next phase of our lives. We ask for space and privacy for our family as we begin to navigate this new life.’

The announcement came less than two weeks after the couple appeared together, virtually, at an event for healthcare workers.

While the couple have no prenup, it appears a lot of the work of dividing up their estate – which includes properties in five states, a private jet, an astonishing art collection and a fleet of luxury cars – has already been done, as their divorce papers repeatedly refer to a ‘separation contract’ which both have signed.

The contract itself has not been made public. Since the divorce was announced, Bill has transferred billions to Melinda in stocks.
