Ollie Locke will be planning his ‘Stanford from Sex And The City 2’-style wedding on Made In Chelsea

Ahead of his return to Made In Chelsea on Monday night, Ollie Locke has shared with MailOnline what fans can expect from him in the show’s 19th season.

The reality star – who was the first person to come out as bisexual on a structured reality show when the series began in 2011 – will be planning the mother of all gay weddings (another reality TV first) with his fiancé Gareth.

The pair will also talk candidly about having children as a same-sex couple – and whether its something they plan to do.

‘Coming back to Made In Chelsea this time – it’s a bit of a different world,’ Ollie, 33, who last appeared on the show in 2018, told us. ‘I’m now on it with Gareth talking about babies and weddings. Things are slightly more adult now!’

He went on: ‘I think that the audience will be fascinated that we aren’t talking about [past cast members] Spencer [Matthews] and Caggie [Dunlop] on the Embankment any more.

‘What you WILL see, however, is wedding planning. I want to be able to show what we’re thinking of doing for our wedding. And I don’t want to do it in a naff way. If we’re going to be planning it on the show, I want to create a Richard Curtis-type wedding.

‘And that’s never happened before on a show like this – with two men at least. What a wonderful privilege.’ 

Although he has since said he is gay these days rather than bisexual, Ollie made TV history when he admitted to his best pal Binky Felstead – who is also returning to the show – that he is attracted to both men and women.

Of the fact that he is marrying another man, he said: ‘We are so incredibly lucky in this country to be able to do this. And you know – there are no rules. Look at Stanford from Sex And The City 2. Look at that wedding. No rules. We are doing stuff like that.’

The character of Stanford Blatch – played by Willie Garson in the Sex And The City TV show and its spin-off movies – threw a lavish wedding in the second film, which saw him marry ‎Anthony Marantino [Mario Cantone]. 

The wedding featured a makeshift river, swans, a full men’s choir and an appearance by Liza Minelli. 

It’s yet to be seen who Ollie and Gareth will rope in to officiate their ceremony. 

Ollie went on: ‘Gareth and I have a very open discussion in episode two about children. And it’s a very real discussion to have as a gay couple – whether or not you want kids.

‘It’s a fascinating social thing that people don’t talk about on these shows. But I have never been one to not put something on camera. I have spent more time on-camera than off it. And people want to hear it.’

Ollie was one of the original cast members on MIC when it first hit screens as one of the UK’s own versions of the likes of The Hills and The City.

Of returning to the series, he said: ‘I guess you worry a bit about it. But the fans’ reactions have been so great since we announced it. I think they like that sense of nostalgia. And I couldn’t be more delighted.’ 

Other than the likes of Mark Francis Vandelli and Fredrik Ferrier, Ollie and Binky are two of the few old-school cast that are on the show – with a ‘new generation’ of younger cast members leading the drama these days.

Of this, Ollie mused: ‘I think they tried to create a young version of the old school cast and it worked. But Binky and I bring the dynamic of nostalgia to this. And I do think there’s a big divide between us and the younger ones. 

‘Watching it, you can can watch the young lot or you can watch the old ones. And hopefully then relate to both parties.

‘The ones in their 20s do all the drama and the cheating, while the 30s plus are doing weddings and talking about kids. It gives the show a chance to show different stuff.’ 

Gareth – who Ollie was friends with for years before they gave romance a shot with much success – appeared briefly on the show in the past, but will feature more prominantly this time around.

‘Yeah, and I can’t shut him up!’ Ollie said of this. ‘He barely lets me get a word in! Which is weird because he is naturally a shy person. But he is so insightful and intelligent. He will say to me “Olls, you need to calm down”. It’s wonderful because he is the ultimate ally which is a heaven thing to have on the show. He is always on my side!’ 

Ollie admitted that he is thrilled to be returning to the fold alongside Binky – who left two years ago when she was pregnant with her daughter India, to whom Ollie is a godfather.

‘Binky and I just make each other laugh, know each other so well, can take the p**s in such an enormous way.

‘She and [her mother] Janey are my second family. And I am very protective of that.’

Ollie claims he isn’t fazed when negative remarks come his way via social media or otherwise – but he doesn’t like it when it involves the people he loves.

‘For example, if someone said something about Janey I would be like “woah now!” But thankfully that’s not something that happens very often. And I am excited about returning to the show. I am not nervous.

‘The world is s****y right now. Lots is happening. If MIC means people can escape for an hour and they can have a laugh and get a bit of nostalgia then I’m happy.’

Will Ollie be sticking around on the show for the foreseeable future?

‘If our coming back works, it works. Then you won’t be able to shut us up. Can you imagine us still on it when we’re 70. Insufferable!’
