Outspoken SAS Australia star Firass Diran suggests women should dress more modestly

SAS Australia star Firass Dirani is labelled ‘sexist’ and ‘condescending’ for suggesting all women should dress modestly like his mother did in her youth

Actor Firass Dirani regularly clashed with his co-stars and superior officers while a contestant on Seven’s SAS Australia last year.

And now the Underbelly star, 36, has landed himself in hot water again – this time with fans.

On Sunday, Firass sparked backlash when he shared a post on Instagram about how women should dress modestly.

‘This is when women wore clothes’: Outspoken SAS Australia star Firass Dirani was labelled ‘sexist’ and ‘condescending’ for suggesting women should dress more modestly

Firass uploaded a black-and-white photo of his mother and aunt in their youth, and commented on how ‘natural’ they were.

‘Mama @ 15 in the white. And my auntie Zeinab. This is when women wore clothes, and women’s eyebrows had hair. #Natural,’ he captioned the image.

Having suggested women should dress modestly like his mother did in her youth, some fans were quick to criticise the actor.

Some Instagram users suggested Firass was being ‘sexiest’ – a misspelling of ‘sexist’ – to which he cheekily responded: ‘Thanks’.

Another said: ‘So are you implying woman don’t wear enough clothes now? Your family is lovely but your comment is kind of condescending.’

In response to this, Firass wrote: ‘I’m saying society is pornified. Look at your Instagram feed. It’s nothing new…’

However, he did agree his comments could also easily be applied to men.

Firass was known for butting heads with his SAS Australia co-stars Shannan Ponton and Merrick Watts on Seven’s military-inspired series last year.

After getting much of the cast offside at various points,  Firass finally got the boot by the DS before the season was over.

Filming for season two of the program is believed to be commencing soon.
