Overserved: Iggy Azalea opens up about ‘secret’ pregnancy and quick body bounce back at dinner party

Iggy Azalea spoke about her ‘secret’ pregnancy on Thursday’s episode of Overserved with Lisa Vanderpump on the E! network.

The 30-year-old Australian rapper admitted ‘nobody knew’ she was pregnant and explained how she’d kept the birth of her son Onyx Carter last spring from her closest friends.

Lisa, 60, had just admired Iggy’s flat belly as they drank gin-and-hibiscus cocktails with drag queen Trixie Mattel, 31, who had gathered at Villa Rosa in Beverly Hills for a ‘Diva Tea.’

Iggy said she didn’t like to talk about it for fear of seeming like a ‘jerk’ to friends struggling with post-pregnancy weight, but she was surprised she was able to bounce back quickly.

‘I thought I’d have to get lots of plastic surgery, but then I didn’t have to get any,’ the Fancy singer said.

She hadn’t looked heavy when pregnant, which made it easier to keep it quiet.

‘I didn’t get a stomach that I’d need to hide, and then with COVID, I was just like, ”I’ll just keep it a secret”,’ Iggy related. ‘I don’t have to go outside.’

Iggy did not reveal that she’d had a child until June 2020, while Onyx was believed to have been born up to three months before.

When her good friend Trixie said she had not known, Iggy joked that she hadn’t had any idea she was pregnant, either… she’d just thought it was a stomachache.

Lest she be misunderstood, she quickly amended that.

‘No, I knew straight away,’ Iggy said. He was a planned baby. I just wondered if I would want to have more than one child, so I thought that maybe I should figure that out before I’m as old as dust.’

‘Have you split up with Playboi Carti?’ asked Lisa, referring to the child’s father, 24. ‘Has he seen the baby?’

‘Yeah, I sent a postcard,’ Iggy cracked. ‘No, he has. He’s a good Dad. I like him—for Onyx.’

Iggy said she and Onyx now lived by themselves, which she called ‘fine,’ adding that it was less of a disruption than she’d anticipated to her routine.

‘That’s when I realized, ”You know what b****? You really don’t do s***, because there’s nothing to disrup”t,’ she said, laughing as she stirred her drink.

When it came to her son, Iggy was equally frank.

‘Everybody kept telling me, ”He’s a handsome one!” and I was like, ”Is he really, though?’,” she told Lisa. ‘He has no eyebrows.’

Lisa protested that he was just a baby and Iggy said Onyx had beautiful hair and brows now, like his dad, emphasizing that ‘he chose those brows.’

‘Sometimes people say, ”Oh, he has your nose,” and I’m like, ”No, he doesn’t. I had to switch her out. It’s cute that you think mine looks like his”.’

Trixie and Iggy had long been friends and starred in videos together, the Ru Paul’s Drag Race winner said.

The group went to play ‘Diva Croquet’ on the lawn, as Lisa’s daughter Pandora Sabo, 34, arrived with huge glasses of vodka strawberry champagne.

Lisa explained the rules of the game: Players would get one point for each ball they hit through the wicket, and if they spilled the drink they’d have to take a sip.

Iggy did poorly so Lisa encouraged, ‘Pretend it’s Playboi Carti’s balls,’ though it didn’t help.

The game was called after Trixie lost a nail on the field, though she won anyway.

Lisa’s husband Ken Todd, 75, then brought out their dog Jiggy, and Lisa crowed, ‘Iggy meet Jiggy.’

‘Jiggy Azalea!’ Iggy offered.

The group then sat down to a full English tea, complete with scones, tea sandwiches and sugar sticks.

‘Lisa, you have things rich people do that I wasn’t even aware of,’ Iggy said, adding, ‘Just asking because I’m poor: Which one of these [plates] do I take over there?’

Lisa observed that Iggy had done something as an international artist that only The Beatles had ever done: She’d scored the top two hits on the Billboard charts at the same time, with Fancy and Problem, her collaboration with Ariana Grande.

‘Bad thing is, it’s all downhill from there, babe,’ said Iggy, who’s now sold over 48 million albums. ‘If you come in at number one, where do you go? Down.’

Trixie said her family was ‘so neutral’ about her success, but her mom started to realize that she might be doing well when she bought her a house.

The YouTube star said she also played the autoharp and had been on the cover of Autoharp Quarterly Magazine.

‘I wish I had brought it,’ Trixie said of her instrument, then paused. ‘I brought it.’

In the dimming light of late afternoon, Trixie played the autoharp beautifully and moved everyone, with Ken saying, ‘I love that little harp.’

Talked turned back to Iggy and her child, and she told Lisa that she had undergone a Caesarean.

‘I feel like women who have babies for real, something always happens to their butthole,’ Iggy observed. ‘My butthole was violated. Once I had my baby, this woman flopped me over, and she just spread my cheeks and then she put something up there. It was just a one-finger thing, I think. I couldn’t feel it. And she charged me $3,500 for it.’

‘I would have done it for free, girl,’ Trixie pointed out.

Lisa then brought out her card game, Get Pumped, and had everyone answer its questions.

Iggy mentioned her many stage falls and said the worst was in Chile.

‘I like to pride myself that I don’t look at the stairs,’ she explained. ‘That’s amateur s***. Ironically, so is falling down the stairs. I was so embarrassed. And then you have that moment like, ”Do I get back up, or do I pretend I’m critically injured?”

‘What did you do?’ Lisa asked.

‘I grabbed a rainbow flag and that fixed everything,’ Iggy replied.

She suddenly recalled another incident at the 2013 MTV Europe Music Awards.

‘Oh one time—also embarrassing—somebody said my vagina fell out of my underpants on a red carpet and that did not happen,’ Iggy said. ‘I had double-taped my underpants on that day. It’s not just gonna flap out. It was very secure—I promise you it was in there. My vagina never fell out. That’s just a light day in the press for me.’

Lisa noted that Iggy had a hard time with the media, but pointed out that she would seem relatable to viewers of Overserved.

Lisa said she’d heard that Trixie loved the Real Housewives shows and handed her the giant faux-diamond held in promos by the women of The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills.

Trixie took it gladly and came out with her own tag line: ‘Don’t paint me like a b***. I already did.’ Or, ‘How do I sleep at night? Ask your husband.’

Iggy then did hers, flipping her hair and crowing, ‘You couldn’t afford it.’

Overserved with Lisa Vanderpump will return next week on the E! network.
