If you wanted to take a tour of the galaxies and needed a guide, then David Eicher, editor of Astronomy magazine, would be the man. In this fascinating book, he tells you all you need to know about this little universe we call home. 

The vibrant Andromeda Galaxy (pictured), for example, is the Milky Way’s largest nearby counterpart. 

To put ‘nearby’ into context, if you were travelling at the speed of light it would still take you 2.5 million years to get there. Now that makes a rush-hour journey on the M25 seem like a doddle.
