Pop princess Shakira is the latest star to offload her music catalogue to Hipgnosis

Pint-sized pop princess Shakira is the latest star to offload her music catalogue to London firm Hipgnosis. 

The three-time Grammy Award winner, who has sold more than 80 million records since 1991, joins artists including Blondie on the firm’s roster. 

The Colombian singer, whose hits include Hips Don’t Lie, She Wolf and FIFA 2010 World Cup song Waka Waka, has 32 million monthly listeners on Spotify, while her official YouTube channel is closing in on 20 billion plays. 

The music investment firm run by Merck Mecuriadis has recently spent hundreds of millions of dollars on song rights to work by Neil Young, Fleetwood Mac frontman Lindsey Buckingham and Jimmy Iovine.
