Powderfinger frontman Bernard Fanning joins music platform Serenade

Powderfinger frontman Bernard Fanning joins music platform Serenade where fans can enjoy a private one-on-one gig with the singer for a whopping $1,000

Powderfinger frontman Bernard Fanning is the latest artist to join Serenade, a music platform that allows musicians to record a one-off performance for dedicated fans.

But, a private performance from the 51-year-old doesn’t come cheap, with Bernard charging a whopping $1,000 for a personalised video.

In an interview with The Daily Telegraph, the Australian crooner explained that unlike other celebrity messaging sites such as Cameo, this is a ‘music only platform’.

‘I really liked the idea this was a music only platform, not about recording a message for someone to break up with their girlfriend or something,’ Bernard told the publication.

The Wish You Well singer added that he joined the platform to ‘bring people joy’ with his music.

‘At the risk of sounding pretty cheesy, it’s more the idea that if you if you are lucky enough to be able to bring people joy with the job that you do, then why not?’

The news comes after Bernard revealed whether Powderfinger will ever get back together.

‘We don’t have any plans to do any live shows or anything like that,’ the My Happiness hitmaker said on The Project in November last year.

‘We never say never, but it’s not really on the radar for us. We’re all really busy doing lots of other stuff.’

Despite releasing a new album of unheard tracks titled Unreleased – their first since they split a decade ago – the singer insisted, ‘We are not an active band’.

In September, the rockers turned down headlining the AFL Grand Finale in Brisbane.

The group declined promoter Michael Gudinski’s ‘generous’ offer to perform at the Gabba, despite being tipped to play the anticipated historic event.

In May, Bernard hinted there was some tension between the band members as they prepared to play their first concert in a decade on YouTube.

Speaking on the Today show, the frontman said the online reunion was the ‘best circumstance’ because it allowed the band members – Ian Haug, Jon Coghill, John Collins and Darren Middleton – to reunite in separate rooms.

‘We know that people have been asking us every time we do an interview, actually for the last 10 years, when [we’re] getting back together and we know there’s some enthusiasm for it.

‘[But] possibly the best circumstances for the five of us to get together, is in five separate rooms,’ he added.
