Pregnant Bindi Irwin reveals how her late father Steve inspired her baby’s nickname – and says he ‘would have been the best grandfather’
Bindi Irwin is due to give birth to her first child with Chandler Powell in a matter of weeks.
And this week, the 22-year-old Wildlife Warrior revealed how her late father Steve Irwin inspired her unborn daughter’s sweet nickname.
Talking to The Bump, Bindi also shared how she knows her father ‘would have been the best grandfather’ to her child.

Talking about her girl’s nickname, Baby Wildlife Warrior, Bindi said: ‘My dad was the first person to create the term Wildlife Warrior.’
Bindi, who is believed to be due around March/April, added that her late father would have been in his element being a grandfather.
‘My dad would have been the best grandfather,’ Bindi sweetly said.

‘I always joke that if he was still here we’d never see our baby because he’d take her on all kinds of adventures!’
Bindi said she’s looking forward to sharing photos and the work of her father with her child.
Steve tragically died in September 2006, after being pierced in the chest by a stingray barb while filming in the Great Barrier Reef.
She also said that her mother Terri is looking forward to becoming a grandmother and will go by the name ‘Bunny.’

Bindi said she decorated the baby nursery with bunnies and woodland animals to pay tribute to Terri.
The former Dancing With The Stars contestant announced her pregnancy in August last year.
‘Baby Wildlife Warrior due 2021,’ Bindi wrote on Instagram, as she and American wakeboarder husband Chandler Powell held up a tiny Australia Zoo uniform.
‘Chandler and I are proud to announce that we’re expecting! It’s an honour to share this special moment in our lives with you,’ she added in part of her post.
The pair married in a small ceremony at Australia Zoo back in March 2020.
