Richard Wilkins SLAMS magazine New Idea for misleading cover story of him and Terri Irwin

Richard Wilkins blasted magazine New Idea for placing him on their front cover on Tuesday.

The 66-year-old slammed the cover as ‘disrespectful’, as it showed two superimposed images of the him alongside Terri Irwin, 56, with the headline ‘Terri and Dickie GO PUBLIC!’

The cover appears to imply the pair are involved romantically – but instead, it simply claimed that Richard will have the first interview with Terri’s pregnant daughter Bindi Irwin, 22, and her husband Chandler Powell after their baby is born.

On Tuesday, the raging host posted a copy of the front cover to Instagram and raged: ‘Really??? Please don’t buy a copy of this trash hoping to learn about “Terri and Dickie going public”.

‘Such bulls**t!!!… and so disrespectful to me, my partner Nicola, Terri and our families.

‘Why? Is there not enough stuff going on in the world right now to write about… without having to fabricate total nonsense?’

Richard has been in a relationship with flight attendant Nicola Dale for months, with the pair going Instagram official back in July.  

The New Idea article itself claims Terri and Dickie have ‘recently been enjoying working out the details of the exclusive interview in a series of zoom chats’.

‘If you ask Dickie, who has interviewed the world who his favourite interview subjects are, the Irwin’s are number one,’ the insider said.

But the article had more of a sting due to the fact that Terri had already slammed rumours of a romance with Dickie earlier in the year – after the same publication suggested the pair were ‘in love’ in February. 

‘So far it’s 25 men I have had a relationship with. I have kept track because it’s kind of funny,’ she told The Courier Mail in March of the never ending rumours.

The Wildlife Warrior continued: ‘Let’s see, apparently it’s all the Hogans – that’s Paul and Hulk, Russell Crowe, and most recently, it’s Richard Wilkins.’ 

Terri, who has chosen to remain single since her late husband Steve died in 2006, went on to joke about ‘the most flattering’ celebrity she is regularly linked to.

She laughed: ‘I think it would be Russell because he is such a good person, a very good friend to our family, and I actually really do love him because he loved Steve and they were such good friends. He stepped up so much when Steve died.’
