Rihanna is filled with ‘devastation, anger, sadness’ over the horrific murder of George Floyd… who died at the hands of police earlier this week
Rihanna took to Instagram on Friday evening to express the ‘magnitude of devastation, anger, sadness’ she feels over the horrific murder of George Floyd.
‘Watching my people get murdered and lynched day after day pushed me to a heavy place in my heart! To the point of staying away from socials, just to avoid hearing the blood curdling agony in George Floyd’s voice again, begging over and over for his life,’ began the 32-year-old singer in her post.
Earlier this week, Floyd – an unarmed, African-American male – experienced a horrific death at the hands of police in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Rihanna continued: ‘The look of enticement, the pure joy and climax on the face of this bigot, murderer, thug, pig, bum, Derek Chauvin, haunts me!! I can’t shake this!
‘I can’t get over an ambulance pulling up to an arrest, a paramedic checking a pulse without removing the very thing that’s hindering it! Is this that f*cking normal???
‘If intentional MURDER is the fit consequence for “drugs” or “resisting arrest”….then what’s the fit consequence for MURDER,’ she concluded.
The Minneapolis policeman accused of killing Floyd, Derek Chauvin, was taken into custody Friday and charged with third-degree murder, officials said.

At the tail end of her post, the Diamond singer hashtagged Floyd’s full name as well as the names of two other African-American civilians, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor, who lost their lives due to police brutality earlier this year.
In the horrifying video footage referenced by Rihanna in her post, Floyd is seen saying that he can not breathe as the officer kneeled on his neck.
Eventually he went silent and limp, and he was later declared dead.
Protests swelled after federal authorities said Thursday that they were making the case a top priority but announced no arrests at that time.
The death of 46-year-old Floyd has sparked days of sometimes violent demonstrations in Minneapolis and other US cities over police brutality against African-Americans.
