‘It’s amazing to be back in the studio’: Rita Ora admits she felt ‘musically isolated’ in lockdown as she shares a clip from the making of new EP Bang

She’s currently spending time Down Under as she prepares to kick off her role as a judge on The Voice Australia.

But Rita Ora proved there’s no rest for the wicked as she uploaded a behind-the-scenes clip from the making of her new EP, Bang.

The singer, 30, enthused about returning to the studio while admitting she felt ‘musically isolated’ in lockdown when the tightest coronavirus restrictions were in place in the UK last year.

Stripping things back, the Hot Right Now hitmaker went make-up free as she belted the lyrics to her fresh tracks.

The Masked Singer judge gushed about making a comeback to the booth as she said: ‘It feels amazing and really good to be back, an actual studio and be around instruments.

‘I can also bounce off people’s energy. It got a bit weird I’m not going to lie, musically I felt isolated which I’ve never experienced before. That really made me write and think a lot about what I want to do musically.’

On collaborating with Kazakh producer and DJ Imanbek, the former America’s Next Top Model host said: ‘He is a really exciting new DJ with hits of his own. I just love his sound and I just wanted to get in touch his brain.

‘It just grew into this ”should we do a project?” And here we are, seven songs in and we’re almost making a mini movie. It’s really exciting, I’ve never done anything like this before.’

Elsewhere in the clip, the blonde applied lipgloss in a bid to ‘get in the mood’ as she added: ‘I can’t work in the studio without having a bit of glamour on, do you know what I mean?

The British musician – who has just completed her mandatory 14-day quarantine after jetting in from England – recently spoke out after meeting her fellow judges Keith Urban, Jessica Mauboy and Guy Sebastian for the first time in Sydney.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, the singer said: ‘I’m really grateful to have been invited here to be a part of The Voice this year. I can’t wait to be able to mentor the amazing talent out here, let’s go.’

Rita landed in Australia at the beginning of the month, after flying over from her home in London to appear on the panel.

Her appearance in the country comes after the artist’s lockdown-flouting 30th birthday bash in London in November, a move which saw her branded ‘selfish’ by police.
