Rove McManus hints at a television comeback before the end of the year

EXCLUSIVE: Rove McManus hints at a television comeback before the end of the year

He was one of the most popular TV personalities in Australia in the 2000s thanks to the success of his late-night talk show, Rove Live.

But Rove McManus has stepped away from the spotlight in recent years to focus on his production company, Roving Enterprises.

This could change in the coming months, however, as the 46-year-old hinted at the AACTA Awards on Monday that he was planning a television comeback.

He’s back! Rove McManus has hinted at a television comeback before the end of the year, telling Daily Mail Australia on Monday he has something exciting in the pipeline

When asked whether fans should expect to see him on TV again, Rove told Daily Mail Australia: ‘Yes, there will be something before the end of the year.’

The presenter didn’t provide any details about the show, saying he was ‘not allowed to talk about it until it’s properly announced’.

However, he was prepared to speak about another project in the pipeline, saying he was doing voice-over work for an animation.

‘There will be something, which at this point I’m probably only allowed to say, it will be my voice that you will hear,’ he teased.

‘I’ve been doing lots of animation stuff, which has been great fun, so I am enjoying that.’

Rove famously had a cameo voicing a crab in the 2003 animated film Finding Nemo.

He also voiced a number of characters in Cartoon Network’s Exchange Student Zero.

It comes after Rove revealed he almost took a very different career path before making it big as a comedian and TV host.

Speaking to Mamamia in July, he said he once dreamed of becoming a professional artist, and even studied fine art at university.

‘In the second year of [my arts course] I started doing stand up, and there I was with the fork in the road of which choice to make and off I went to perform,’ he explained.

While art may not be his profession, Rove has maintained artistic pursuits as a hobby over the years.
