Rugby league fan who sent a death threat to Ray Hadley is facing a lifetime ban

A rugby league fan is reportedly facing a lifetime ban after sending Ray Hadley a threatening message over a radio segment.

According to The Daily Telegraph, the fan threatened the 2GB host on May 15, over a segment about a football brawl during a match between West Wallsend and Dora Creek.

The publication claimed the fan wrote in an email: ‘C***. I hope you get cancer and die a slow pain death… you queer c***.’

Last year, the fan had also accused the radio host of ‘broadcasting one side of the story’.

Hadley replied saying ‘both sides of the story were told’ but the fan continued to accuse the host of not reporting all the facts.

He then sent the threatening email after Hadley failed to respond.

Meanwhile, Hadley is a rugby league football commentator for Channel Nine and he also presents 2GB Sydney.

He joined the radio station in 2001 to present the weekend rugby league coverage, and started also hosting the morning show after just one year.

In 2011, Hadley became the highest-rating radio announcer on Australian radio.

In March this year, Hadley and his glamorous former secretary Sophie Baird tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in NSW.

The couple had to postpone their big day on three occasions last year due to Covid-19.

He proposed to Sophie – who was his personal assistant for 16 years – in October of 2019 as he left home to call the NRL grand final between the Sydney Roosters and Canberra Raiders at Sydney Olympic Park.
