Sam Armytage hits back at claims her husband, 60, is a ‘millionaire’

Sunrise host Sam Armytage, 44, hits back at claims her husband Richard Lavender, 60, is a ‘millionaire businessman’

Don’t let Sunrise host Sam Armytage hear you call her husband Richard Lavender a ‘millionaire’ businessman.

Speaking on her podcast Something to Talk About this week, the breakfast TV host, 44, dismissed the way Richard’s wealth had been described in the press.

Sam was speaking to actor Hugh Sheridan about the media interest in his romance with Kurt Roberts when she alluded to the headlines about her own love life.

Millionaire? Sunrise star Sam Armytage, 44, bizarrely slammed husband Richard Lavender, 60, being labelled a ‘millionaire businessman’ on her new podcast. Here: Sydney, 2020

‘They keep calling Rich a “millionaire businessman”,’ she said, seemingly puzzled by the description.

‘And he’s like, “Where did that come from? I’m going to have a problem with the ATO!’ she added.

Sam’s comment was likely just a reflection of her prickly relationship with the tabloids, rather than her denying Richard is a millionaire.

Not happy: 'They keep calling Rich [her husband Richard Lavender] a millionaire businessman,' she said, on the podcast. 'And he's like 'where did that come from? I'm going to have a problem with the ATO [Australian Taxation Office],' she added

Richard is a stakeholder of Lavender Equestrian, which offers a variety of services for horses in the region, including breeding and training.

According to property records, his 40-hectare farm in Berrima cost $1.95million when he bought it in 2007.

Sam, who reportedly earns $500,000 a year, is likely worth at least a million herself.

‘I guess it depends where you live in Australia as to whether or not you’re wealthy on $180,000,’ she said.

‘In Sydney, probably not.’
