Sam Thompson admits he’s ‘EMBARRASSED’ about taking Zara McDermott back

The mystery surrounding how Zara McDermott managed to woo Sam Thompson into getting back together with her seems to be unraveling on Made In Chelsea.

As the show catches up with real-time, new scenes exclusive to MailOnline reveal Zara, 23, bombarded Sam, 28, with gifts to try and get him back.

And the one that seemingly tipped Sam over the edge contained an eternity ring.

It also featured protein bars and vitamins, for an added flourish.

MailOnline revealed last week that the couple were back on, after weeks of speculation, with Sam seemingly forgiving Zara for cheating on him last year.

Two new scenes from Monday night’s instalment see Sam clearly rethinking things.

In one, he chats to pal Reza Amiri-Garroussi, who has been playing go-between for the couple, with Zara asking him to drop off her various care packages.

‘What was in the package? It was as big as me!’ Reza says.

Sam explains what was in it, to which Reza asks if he’s starting to be pulled back in.

‘Some of the things she says in the letters and messages are so honest,’ Sam says, claiming the video montage she made for him weeks ago was ‘touching’.

He goes on: ‘I’ve been quite vocal about how embarassed I am. I don’t know if I should see her. I don’t know if that’s the right move.’

Reza advises him: ‘Base your decision on what you feel towards her and what you think you could be in the long run.’

‘Wise words sir,’ Sam says.

In another teaser, Zara meets up with Alex Mytton to chat about her attempts to win Sam back.

Chatting in the park, Zara says: ‘It’s been a roller-coaster if I’m honest.’

Alex assures her that Sam isn’t ‘the pope’ and that he’s ‘been through these situations before’ and advises Zara not to ‘villainise’ herself or ‘beat herself up’.

Zara tells Alex about the eternity ring and that he has been wearing it.

‘That’s a good sign!’ Alex insists. ‘There’s so much love there between us. I want another chance to prove to him how much I love him. I’m not going to stop!’ Zara adds. ‘I think he knows in his heart that we can rebuild. I know a lot of trust has gone, I get that!’

Alex says Sam doesn’t want to admit to wanting to get back together with her because he’ll ‘look stupid’.

Zara explains that she’s worried Sam’s pride won’t let him reach out to her if she stops pestering him with gestures.

‘He will come to you,’ Alex assures her.

Last weekend, MailOnline revealed that the duo had rekindled their romance, with a source confirming: ‘They are certainly back together again. This finally happened about two weeks ago now. He took her back.’

On the same evening, Zara shared another one of her famous throwbacks – this one taken on holiday over the summer in Mykonos.

In it, she kisses Sam on a pier, the ocean stretching out behind them. 

Zara cryptically captioned the image: ‘I promise that you will always have my heart ❤️’

It’s not unusual for Zara to share gushing images of her and Sam from the past – having relentlessly tried to get his attention since the cheating scandal came to light in September. 

‘Yay finally back together!’ one of Zara’s followers commented under the photo. Another wrote: ‘Fab pic. I sincerely hope you manage to sort out your differences!’

No such activity has materialised on Sam’s Instagram – his latest post being an ad for Captain Morgan rum.

The likes of Pete Wicks and Jamie Laing have been vocal about their disdain for Zara’s infidelity. 

Rumours of a reconciliation hit fever pitch after the ex Love Island contestant was spotted leaving Sam’s home at 9AM two weeks ago.

Sam had previously stated on Made In Chelsea that their 16-month relationship was well and truly over, following revelations she had cheated.

Zara tried to make a coy exit from Sam’s house, carrying the plaid shirt jacket she was pictured wearing during a meet up with Sam last week, as they filmed their final scenes together for MIC before the current series draws to a close. 

Shortly after, Sam was also seen leaving the same property.

Following their split in Agust, Sam unfollowed Zara on Instagram and publicly ignored her several declarations of love. He refollowed her a few weeks ago. 

They were also said to have enjoyed a roast dinner with their friends earlier in the month and a source told The Sun: ‘They were all having such a nice time that one got carried away and uploaded a post with Sam and Zara in it, forgetting that they’re not officially together.

‘The friend soon realised their mistake and deleted the post before it drew too much attention. The word amongst their inner circle is they’re back together, but to the public it’s a different story.’

Since then, the blonde revealed she won’t be quitting MIC at the end of the current series, despite recently telling her pal and Sam’s ex Tiffany Watson she plans to move to Los Angeles to pursue her modelling career further. 

During a recent episode of Made In Chelsea, Sam was visited by his pal Reza Amiri-Garroussi who came bearing a letter from Zara.

On the break up, Reza said: ‘Got to say though after meeting her, I did feel bad for her. She’s in a bad way. It’s a s*** situation for everyone involved. But she really is upset. Legit.’

Sam then broke down while reading out the letter from Zara, which read: ‘Dear Sam, since you’ve been away I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting on a lot of things. I’ve reflected on my life and our life together and also the kind of life I want to live…

‘Before I continue with some of the things I need to say, I just want to tell you again I am sorry with my whole entire heart for what I did….

‘I’m so deeply ashamed of my actions and the way I hurt you. I was selfish, immature and stupid. There is no excuse.’

After his meeting with Sam, Reza then reported back to Zara that Sam is ‘completely out,’ despite her attempts and letter to win him back to which she started crying. 

Among Zara’s impassioned throwback posts of her and Sam she captioned one: ‘I choose you. And I’ll choose you over and over. Without pause, without a doubt, in a heartbeat. I’ll keep choosing you.’

The post comes after Sam mocked the moment Zara begged for his forgiveness on TV in a now-deleted video, before later apologising for causing any offence and insisting he asked for her permission.
