SAS Australia: Kerri Pottharst bursts into tears as she QUITS the series following ice bath hell

SAS Australia’s Kerri Pottharst bursts into tears as she QUITS the series – moments after being engulfed in a freezing cold ice bath

SAS Australia star Kerri Pottharst quit the series during Wednesday’s episode.

The 56-year-old Olympic volleyball player, who was the oldest of the recruits this season, burst into tears after announcing she could go no further due to a knee injury.

‘I can’t do this. My knee has given out,’ she told directing staff (DS) Ollie Ollerton, just moments after emerging victorious from a nightmare challenge of being engulfed in an ice bath.

Ollie had asked Kerri to sprint through the wilderness to increase her body temperature after the challenge – but the thought of running with her injured knee became all too much for the recruit.

‘I’m done. As much as I want to be here. My body said no,’ she continued.

After becoming tearful, she added: ‘Thank you – I’m crying because I want to stay.’

‘You’ve done great to get this far,’ Ollie said.

‘It’s an admirable thing to do that, as well,’ he added, referring to the challenge.

Despite her injury, Kerri was one of the few recruits who had completed the hellish challenge – which involved celebrities jumping into a pool of ice and being forced to answer questions by the DS to exit.

Should they get a question wrong, they had to pull their whole body underneath the water and try again.

But Kerri got both questions correct, and passing the challenge flying colours.

But she, like politician Emma Husar, eventually couldn’t keep up with the active parts due to injury – therefore reluctantly leaving the show immediately.

SAS Australia continues Monday at 7:30pm on Channel Seven
