‘Saski was always Tammy’s dream’: Amy Hembrow reveals her famous sister fired her MULTIPLE times

In 2019, Tammy Hembrow fired her older sister Amy after more than two years as a general manager of her popular activewear brand, Saski Collection.

But Amy, 30, insists that being let go from the family business didn’t come as a surprise because Tammy, 25, had in fact fired and re-hired her multiple times before.

‘I think the biggest shock was probably to Tammy when I actually decided not to go back,’ she told Daily Mail Australia on Wednesday.

Tammy, who launched Saski Collection in 2017, would regularly have ‘sisterly arguments’ with Amy while she was handling administrative duties for the clothing company.

‘We’d have an argument and then she would fire me, and we’d do it back and forth quite a bit,’ Amy said.

The turning point for Amy came when she fell pregnant with her first child, daughter Aurora, last year.

She decided to stop the cycle of being sacked and re-hired by Saski by handing in her resignation and starting a separate business with her other sister, Emilee.

‘I was about to embark on my motherhood journey and I thought, you know, Saski was always Tammy’s dream and I wanted to do something for myself,’ she said.

‘Emilee came to me with the idea to open a beauty clinic, Sskin. At the time I was working at Saski, and I didn’t have enough time. Once I was no longer at Saski Collection, I turned to Emilee and was like, “You know what, let’s do it,”

Tammy first revealed she had fired Amy during an episode of her podcast, Hanging with the Hembrows, in November 2019.

‘Because we were sisters, [Amy] wouldn’t really listen fully to what I’d say. She’d think that she knows best,’ she said.

‘Now that she hasn’t been working for me for a little while, it has actually made us get along so much better. I don’t regret it.’

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia this week, Amy agreed that she and Tammy have a stronger bond since parting ways professionally.

‘Tammy is so supportive. Honestly our relationship is 1000 times better since leaving Saski,’ she said.

‘We’re so much closer and we enjoy each other’s company a lot more, because it’s not so work based, and she supports Sskin 1000 per cent,’ Amy said.

Emilee added: ‘Tammy just keeps saying, “Can you open so I can come in and get my treatments done?” So she’s definitely our number one supporter.’

Amy said her two and half years as general manager of Saski Collection taught her important lessons about running a business and working with family members.

So far, Amy and Emilee haven’t had any major arguments regarding Sskin, but they definitely faced challenges while getting the company off the ground.

‘With us, it’s juggling the kids at the same time, that’s the main challenge. Because Amy just had a baby, she’s still breastfeeding, so it’s a lot of juggling with that and my kids also with us,’ said Emilee, who shares daughter Aaliyah, three, and son Gabriel, one, with her husband.

Amy agreed: ‘I think we work quite well together. Especially Emilee and myself on this journey, I think we had a couple kinks we worked through and now we understand each other a lot better.’

Sskin clinic offers celebrity-approved treatments, including skin needling, Rose Quartz signature facials, IV drip treatments and injectables.
