A ‘naive’ 15-year-old schoolgirl, who was a talented show jumper and rugby player, died after taking ecstasy bought on the dark web, an inquest hears.

The senior coroner returning the verdict said that Hannah died from a ‘drug related death’ and was ‘naive and unaware of how much she was taking’.
The ecstasy Hannah took had been purchased by two teenage boys, aged 14 and 15 at the time, who had bought the tablets, along with other class A drugs, on the dark web.
The 14-year-old boy alone was was charged with supplying ecstasy to Hannah, which she took when celebrating the end of exams.
In February this year, the schoolboys avoided jail and were each given youth rehabilitation orders and ordered to carry out unpaid work by a judge at Plymouth Crown Court.
The earlier court case was told that the two youths, who cannot be named for legal reasons, began supplying illicit drugs to close friends and other children from their school in the Tavistock area of west Devon.
They supplied drugs including MDMA, LSD, ketamine and other mind bending drugs called DMT and 2BC.

Police said Hannah’s tragic death was caused by having ‘unbridled access to highly strong and uncut drugs in unknown quantities from an unknown person from the Dark Web’.
Hannah was a slightly built five feet tall athletic and fit young woman who loved ponies and horses.
The senior Plymouth and south Devon coroner Ian Arrow said that Hannah was ‘naive and unaware of how much she was taking’.
He said: ‘She has taken an amount, a substantial amount of MDMA, so her body has been unable to tolerate that very large amount and that consumption of MDMA has led to her death.’
He recorded a conclusion of a ‘drug related death’ on Hannah who lived in Gulworthy near Tavistock with her parents David and Karen.
Hannah had gone to a farmer’s field near a disused viaduct in Tavistock with a 14-year-old youth on a hot summer’s day June 23, 2018 and was seen by a farmer ‘staggering’ around as though she was drunk.

She collapsed and the youth with her called an ambulance.
Emergency services attended the scene and Hannah was air lifted to Derriford Hospital where she later died from the toxic effects of MDMA.
She suffered from hypothermia and her temperature was 41.6 degrees and this led to cardiac arrest, said the pathologist Dr Russell Delaney.
Hannah’s parents who were at the Plymouth inquest questioned why the youth took 15 minutes to call 999 for an ambulance and why it then took the ambulance service 38 minutes to reach Hannah before she was given emergency treatment.
A police officer said the youth was in a panic and distraught but told officers: ‘We have just taken MDMA and acid.’
